I agree, the 3.92 will do the trick. The only other (considerable) option was a 3.55 but it dropped the towing and CGVWR down to what could be my potential MAX weight. Wanted to make sure I had plenty left over. The down side is fuel economy while NOT towing.

Wasn't there something offered between 3.92 and 3.55?

You would think that Dodge would make a 3.73 available.

I Know a 3.73 is available in a diesel or with the larger hemi but I believe you need a 2500 or 3500 level truck to get it.

No, only options in the 1500 were 3.21, 3.55 or 3.92. In the 2500, with 5.7L or 6.4L Hemi, the options are 3.73 or 4.10; 6.7 L Cummins its 3.42.

Could I have made it work with the 3.55, maybe. The fact that this one change lowered the GCWR by 1500# was enough for me to stick with the 3.92. I have no need for a 3/4 ton truck; well not at this moment.

Nice truck. That is VERY similar to what I want, except in the 3.0l VM Diesel.

I was just looking at your rig set up it looks like you are over 9K dry with your Ford 150. Do you have any problems with this set up?

I am fixing up my new rig (Tundra/SST) now and just curious. I am a lot lighter than you and may have some questions.

Chris, just sent you a pm with my info. But for all others I have NO PROBLEM towing my Patriot with my truck. This includes, standing starts, braking, cruising at speed, windy roads and interstate traffic. I live on top of a mountain with a good grade and have no problem going up or down.
