New TV

Bought a 2011 F-250 CC SB FX4 3.73 today. 190K miles, fleet truck for an explosives company. Paid $8K, so hopefully ends up being a good purchase. Could also be a huge money pit!

I need to replace some suspension parts, mainly shocks and steering stabilizer.

Anyone modded one of these? Needs some bigger wheels/tires (black) and fender flares. Probably all I'll do to it other than general maintenance/repair.

First spend your money on operational things. Suspension, tires, shocks and brakes are a good start. Get a good alignment to keep those tires in good shape. A fluid change/tune up on the transmission would be good; get a specialist in case you don't have a trans fluid cooler. If not, get one.
Check out the electrical on your 7-pin. A good tow package: 1. cuts off 12V+ when the engine is off. 2. Fuses 12V+ and turn signal lights inside the truck.
Include, of course, an electric brake controller, wired also to that 7-pin.
You'll love the King Cab. We thought we were in the market for a Crew Cab, but when the KC was available used, we bought it. And happy ever since!

Good advice. It was maintained every 5k miles at a Ford dealer. I am waiting for the Oasis report so I can see exactly what was done.

Has the integrated brake controller and sway control. Love the towing mirrors that extend out. This guy is rated to tow 12,000. Might need some air bags depending on how it squats with the equalizer. A lot of guys say the springs are soft.

I am going to get the suspension sorted out first.

It's spending it's first night at a detail shop. Wife wants it looking new before bringing it home. lol. Its a little dirty inside. Engine bay is dusty, getting steam cleaned bumper to bumper.

Sounds like you have a good towing package. If it's got those mirrors, I'll bet the other pieces are in place. Steam cleaning and detailing is a great idea. Have some flowers inside for the first time she sees it. She's really supporting you on this, and deserves them!

Why would you say that? I'm glad the factory wiring on my Silverado leaves the 12V hot when the truck is off.

My last truck was always "hot," and my Titan has the relay. I like it better because there is not the worry of draining the TV battery unintentionally, and also, if connected when the TT is plugged into shore power, the TT converter is feeding back into the truck. That may or may not be a good thing. One can always turn the key on, if desired.

He got an F-250, and I imagine it is like my Silverado in that the starting battery is isolated from everything else. Most 3/4 ton and larger trucks have 2 batteries, and you won't drain the starting battery.

My F-250 only has one battery. It is gas. His is too. Bet it only has one.

Congrats. Even if it only has one battery, you can likely add another. My 1/2 ton GMC has the second battery tray already installed.

It needs new shocks. Time to decide to level it, hmmm.

I love it! Detailer got it looking like new.

Have had two super duties, both diesels, but both need help on the rear end for the HEAVY 5'ers I had...
I got rancho 9000 adjustable shocks and airlift wireless obne in cab controller for my bags.... HIGHLY recommend that if you needs bags...

But, I'd wait and see what you need before 'assuming'

Glad to help in any way I can and got lot's of SD stuff for sale !

Hated to get rid of either of my SD's, but traded it in and think we done good

(Amazing how small those tires look - they come up to my waist almost!)

Mine has 18 inch rims and I can just barely see over the hood.

Yeah, the rear needs help. All the shocks are blown. I'm replacing those. Will figure out what to do with the rear next week.

I have an Equalizer hitch. I didn't set it up, camping world tech did. I'm going to spend a hour and set it up myself. Rear went down 1" and front stayed about same.

Here is how it sits:

Not sure on exact tongue weight. Two full 30# tanks and fresh water is 2/3 full, a few feet from front.
Truck has the 6.2 V8 gasser.

Are air bags my best option? I definitely want Bilstein 5100 shocks on all 4 corners. Keeping truck stock height. Also need a new steering damper, will go Bilstein as well. Will get some larger wheels/tires eventually.

From the photo (and I'm no expert!), the TT looks level enough, maybe just a tad down in front. But the TV is stooping in the rear. Perhaps one more notch up on the WDH? Shocks only help the bounce, they don't carry the load - EXCEPT - I did get a pair while traveling on my old TT, the shocks with overload springs. They go untouched until the shock is squeezed to a point, then the springs assist. Helped me out a lot! Got them at a Goodyear station on the road. You're almost there - keep tweaking it!
Also, another thing I did after my CW guy set it up initially, before gas and water were added.... I had a guy raise the WDH by one notch on the receiver, the thing with the multiple mounting holes. A 10 min job, moved the hitch up one screw hole, and we're all set!
