New Weight Distribution System Help

Good Morning Fellow RVr's.
I am having a delimina on my Weight Distribution hitch actually have had as a carry over since last season. I bought a new 2014 Zinger 33bh and had the dealer supply and install a Weight distribution hitch. Only took the camper out 3x last summer and 2x it was long distance (over 25) miles and I experienced Swaying from the trailer like crazy. I am pulling it with a 2011 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab Long Box. The dealer set it up with a EazyLift Hitch with 1000 lb Bars. The only issue that I can see with this set up is that the Dry hitch weight is 984 per the mfg sales brochure. So by the time I load up the front storage compartment I am sure that I am over that. The only option that I see for correcting this sway is to possibly go up to 1400lb bars on the bitch system. This EazyLift system is cheaper then most at $233 Hitch and all or I can just get the Bars for like $88 ea.

I'm not sure that the EazyLift system is the correct set up for me.

Looking for some input from you as to your set up, Experience ect.

Agree with you about your estimated hitch weight and yes I would want some type of sway control with that size trailer. Considering cost I would choose either the Reese DC which I'm happy with or the Equal-I-Zer. Cost being no object than a Hensley or Pro-Pride

Don't buy the add on sway bar. The wd should control the sway. Your bars are to light for the weight you have. Get heaver bars or another hitch.

I have used a Equal I Zer with great success.

Sorry to hear you had these issues. Just my opinion,but they should have never put 1K bars on a that trailer.

Just for food for thought here, if you're staying with EazyLift..
Depending on your relationship and distance from the dealer, I'd go back and talk to the manager about what they did and discuss crediting you back your cost for the bars and install the 1400 set.

Do a couple test tows with the new bars and see if it helps.

I'm a fan of the friction sway bars on that hitch, but just my experience.


I'm using the ProPride setup and could not be happier. Pricey, but well worth the investment for us. Was around $2K and I installed them on a Saturday afternoon myself.

Hensley has a great reputation, but it's up there in price, like another grand.

I would definitely recommend some type of sway control with that length of trailer. The WD hitch only helps distribute the load to the frame. It does nothing to control sway.

I have also noticed a lot more sway with my new Rezerve 26RB than with my previous light 24 foot trailer. I hope adding a second sway bar will help. I read that longer and heavier trailers require two sway bars. I hope this helps.

Look at the equalizer with 1400 lb bars, has 4pt sway control. Very simple design and easy to use plus it has a proven track record. Probably going to run in the $800 range. I have the 1000 lb version and it has worked well in my limited experience so far. Been passed by and have passed semis, no sway issues; truck and trailer seem to move as one in the wind resistance.

1400# Bars for sure...1200# minimum.

With that size trailer, best option is probably new hitch...like the Equalizer mentioned, or a Reese Dual Cam.

We sold our 1000# EZLift round bar on Craigslist...for $250 even, so you can recoup some of the cost of your new hitch. This is one of the most vital parts of the puzzle...spend time and money to get right setup.

Thanks for all of the comments. I defiantly think that the 1,400 bars are a start. I will keep you all posted on my corrections to this.
