Pin lock?

I've heard people use a pin lock when leaving their rig unattended at the park for a day trip ....Do any of you use a lock or chain around the pin to deter someone from driving away with your FW? Is there some other method?...

oh yes we bought a tripod that has a place for the lock then we bought a decent lock. If someone really wants it they will take it but its more of a detuerrent than anything !! Most campers watch out for ecah others stuff but wen you are on the road its nice to beable to tell your insurance it was locked!!

I use a lock on mine, more for peace of mind than anything. It is just a horseshoe shaped steel strap that slides over the neck of the kingpin, and then a straight bar lock through the ends to keep it on there. I think it was about 30 bucks or so. I also put our chairs and barbecue away when we are not using them. I have had enough stuff stolen from me already, I do what I can to at least make it more difficult for theives.

I use a pin lock. But in addition I have a hidden switch for the landing gear inside the basement. As has been said if they really want the trailer they will get it no matter what. All we can do is make it a little more difficult and possibly they will pass on my trailer.

Not me. When my campin' life requires a pin lock, it's time to hang it up & throw in the towel.

I have a hidden switch for the landing gear also. Have been thinking about a pin lock just haven't done anything yet, but I think it will be on the pin this year. Like Lenny stated, It will be added peace of mind. It's not realistic to think that every one that 's in a camp ground or, drives through is an "honest Joe".

We have a Pin Lock on our 5vr. It makes it a little harder to steal and it gives the insurance company, one less excuse to hold any payment.

lots easier to just make sure your insurance is paid, as long as they take it and I don't get it back, they can have it.....LOL....they really aren't that hard to replace....

I have to much work and to many mods in my rig to let some S.O.B. have it that easily!
Be sides that, a person would never get it all back from the Ins.

I use a heavy duty lock on the kingpin stabilizer. Agree with all that it is nothing more than a deterrent but I sleep better at night. My LevelEase is mounted inside a basement compartment so the original landing gear switch is immobilized.



What really concerns me is some joker trying to mess with the hitch when we are taking a short lunch break. My Curt Q5 does have provision for a lock to prevent this from happening but I have not yet purchased a lock.

When the camper is in storage I have a pin lock and when camping a tripod with a lock. I guess it would just keep one thinking of taking it to pass by. If for some reason I could get insurance money I really do not think I would get enough to replace it even in this market.
