Ram 1500 to Chev 2500
Well I finally decided to give chevy a go after 5 dodge trucks all run over 250,000km. Chev has been long overdue for a styling change and in the 2015 model 2500 they did just that. But for the 2500s styling was the only change under the hood, and frame remain the same for now...
I had a 2013 dodge ram 1500 hemi, now I have the 2015 2500 chevy HD 5.3l v8 gasser.
After 10,000km on the chevy I really do enjoy driving it.
As for trailering here are my comparisons.
Dodge half tonn has more HP and torque than the 5.3l 2500. (Seems crazy but true). The chev cannot compete with the dodge for pulling power. But the longer wheel base and higher payload makes having less power a non issue. Glad I made the switch. But probably a 2500 dodge with the hemi would have been the best route to go, I switch out every 4 years so we shall see what the next lineup brings in 2018.

I owned one of those Duramax's for ten years and have never heard that before. I guess I must lead a pretty sheltered life.

Impossible that you have a 5.3 Liter in that 2500, only 6.0 Liter is available

5.3 is in the 1500.

According to www.gm.ca, the 2500 comes standard in Canada with the 6.0L gas engine and has the 6.0L CNG version or 6.6L Duramax as the only options.

Your all correct 6.0. So used to the 5.3 being in everything chevy, never stopped to think what I was typing.

Up here diesel is a solid 20 to 30 cents per liter compared to gasoline, and because i only pull the trailer for a few weeks a year I am not in favor of the higher up front cost(approx$10k) of the diesel engine, -40C winter starts (winter is here 8 months of the year). I like the diesel for pulling just not the best all round option for my needs is all.

I can not imagine -40 degrees. I guess I shouldn't fuss when it's 98 degrees with 90% humidity here.
