Tow vehicle tire upgrade

Hello. I will be in the need for new tires for my 2009 Silverado 1500 in the next few months. Currently have the P tires which have performed fine but would take this as an opportunity to upgrade to the LT. Question I have is how does the tire pressure monitors work when upgrading tires? Do they have to be reprogrammed to account for the additional tire pressures? The other thing I was going to investigate is if the rims on the truck would be sufficient for upgrade? If I would have to upgrade rims I may just abort this idea and get another set like I have (or a newer truck with the tires and rims already on it lol).
Thanks....Jim

You’ll have no issue changing to LT tires as I did with my 09 Silverado with 17” rims and my current 13 Silverado with 18” rims. IMHO P metric tires should not be on a 1500 truck with a full tow package.

Let us know what you think after putting on the LT tires.
Probably won't be as much fun or as exciting as a new truck tho.

Yeah, I dunno. I like my truck and it does a pretty decent job of doing what I need it to do. Only 77k on it but the winters here take a toll - even though it just sits most of the winter its still getting rusty. Had it 8 years and its like an old pair of shoes that you hate to get rid of lol. Kind of nice having something that if it should get a ding in it I do care...but not really. Will advise what happens after I get the new tires (or tires with a newer 2500 lol).
