WDH question

Do the shank and ball for a WDH system re-distribute any weight without the trunions? I recently purchased a car 10 hours away and need to tow it home. My owner's manual says anything over 3500#s needs a WDH hitch. Car hauler+car will be 5,900#s plus. My concern with using a tow dolly is that it does not have brakes. The weight with a tow dolly would be 3,900#s, more than I feel comfortable towing without trailer brakes...

Short answer is no. The ball mount just carries the tongue weight. If it were me I would use the hitch and add the bars. Not sure what hitch you have but could you transfer the snap up brackets from your camper to the car trailer?

Intriguing thought, but it won't work because the U Haul auto transporter has surge brakes.

Not sure what car you are picking up but when we load tractors we position the tractor on the trailer front to back and that adjusts the tongue weight. Not sure how long the car is or if it would work for you.
