I agree! Wish I had the Ford chassis, Cummins motor & Allison Transmission!

If you could get that, you would never need another tow vehicle!

We pull our 33ft zt33fk Zinger with a 1995, K2500, 7.4L and have no problems. Just the cost of gas but this vehicle is my baby and has some upgrades for power and mileage which do work. Love my wife also.

Ford. I buy what I support, and as a shareholder, I figured I should reinvest in the company I own

My thoughts exactly until I bought the 2011 F350 6.7l Turbo Diesel. Now I am Ford all the way!! Can't beat this drivetrain for fuel economy and quiet. Had a gas F250 before with 5 speed auto and it was really loud and rode rough compared to this truck. Ride much improved, quiet, no smell and proven tranny. 22mpg unloaded. 11 to 12 mpg with 12,500 behind it. And no bailout helped. I must admit the Dodge Cummins 1 tons are much quieter now, just wish they would beef up the tranny from the factory. Had two Chevys and three Ford trucks in my time and all have been reliable so I have no complaints. Up until recently Chev kicked butt on fuel economy.

I work for GM, (34yrs) , own a 2011 2500 w/ 6.6 duramax w/ allison---pull a 2013 3610 elevation. I get approx 13 on the road pulling my rig, unless I get into it too much.

I (we) have had absolutely no complaints with truck, rides nice--pulls great--and is very quiet

I don't know not buying a truck because of bailout money, I am wondering if you also do not put your money in the bank, because they certainly took the money and ran. There are dozens of business's that received help due to the economy.

My company is paying back every cent with interest.

I am proud to be a GM employee / owner

Just bought a Ford F250 SD SC 7.3L Needed the power to get over mountains next year...didn't think my Escalade would do that, and the mileage wasn't so hot either.

I've been using a Chev 1500 with 4.8l for the last 2 months ..(thats what came in for the winter.)...pulled my '13 Sunset Trail 25rb pretty good , but there are no hills near me.
Getting Chev 2500 duramax diesel in April ,so off the the mountains this summer, or maybe out to Newfoundland...who knows.
Had a GMC diesel in 2010 and put on 14000km heading out west and back pulling a 26 ft KZ quad bunk . Pulled like it wasn't even there.

gotta love a deisel

You are going to be much happier with a diesel. Good luck.

I have 05 GMC 2500HD with 4.10 gears and 6 liter gas engine. 10-11mpg pulling 4100lb zinger 240fb from 2006. truck does double duty in winter with plow while zinger is in a dry hangar till the snow leaves in April. Visibility on right is poor as the mirror is not concave. Don't pass me on the right!

Get the Diesel power mag. the research speaks for it self! Dodge all the way or as of 2013 Ram trucks. They are no longer Dodge its a seperate company.

We have a 33ft Zinger which we pull with a 95 Suburban 2500/7.4L ,chip and new air intake. Goes good but mileage not so good. About 11.5 mph but we love the truck as we have had it from conception. Love the looks we get with the old girl (and I mean the truck).

Denlor,
I don't think 11.5 mpg with a 95 Suburban is all that bad...I've heard of worse, and I didn't get quite that with my 2005 Escalade either...so 11.5 looks good to me

I agree with Jim. You stated 7.4L, which is the old big block I believe. You probably get that with or without the trailer!

Have you towed with your new baby yet? I'll bet you can't wipe the smile off your face if you have. It is a night and day difference to towing with an SUV. Enjoy your new to you truck.

I have not towed with it yet, but I do know the first thing I will have to do is adjust the Equal-I-Zer, this thing sits so much higher than the Escalade. My TT is stored for the winter and already has a 3 inch coating of snow setting on her The DW and I wentover Saturday to check on her and pick up the pillow as we're looking at having 2 wall-hugger recliners built for her. As they will be Lazy-Boy we will have them packed for us unassembled and put them in the back of the truck.Linda retires in April and our first trip will be back to Shipshewana for the annual inspection, to Athens, OH for our SIL's graduation from Ohio University, on to Gettysburg for a week, then on to Poughquag, NY where we will give the 9 foot couch in our unit to our daughter for her family room. She has a futon there now and that's what I got to sleep on. As I have had a 4 inch foam topper put on the couch, I told her it would be much nicer on her guests backs (wink-wink). From there we head back to Fox Lake, IL for a week to celebrate Memorial Day with other Cruiser Owners we met at the annual Rally.

More of an answer than you wanted I know, but hey, I'm retired and some days are just boring, and it is 11 degrees out with the WC so I'm not going anywhere today

Be well, travel safe,
Jim
