What PSI should I run new Endurances tires at?

Hello All.

2017 Sunset trails grand reserve 26SI

Decided to pull the trigger on getting the Goodyear Endurance 215/75 R14 Tires. The tire installer set them at 50 PSI. I am thinking that is too low. What should I be setting them too? (Max PSI says 65)

Also I would like to mention that with the old China Bombs I was noticing some unusual wear (one season). Dealer recommended an alignment. I took it to an alignment specialist shop and found that both axles and wheels needed a serious alignment. This trailer is a year old and has never been on dirt roads. Talking to the alignment guy and he said he is seeing new trailers all the time! Chock up one more thing the factory is seriously slacking on.

I always run mine at max pressure. So, 65psi sounds right to me!

Goodyear site says 65 psi max. So I would go with that.

Your axles are probably 3500 lb axles with 1750 lb each springs. I had mine upgraded to 4400 lb axles and 2200 lb springs and no more suspension problems .
I also just got endurance tires and go with 65 lbs...

Put Endurance on this summer also, and run 65psi. Had to get a 100lb psi pressure gauge to check them which stays in the trailer. It's beyond words the difference in towing now, from before with China CRAP.

Just completed a 3000 mile trip with the new Endurance tires, much improved handling over the Marathons that I replaced. 225/75 R15, 80lbs.

I currently have the Goodyear Marathons and will probably replace them next year. How are the Goodyear Endurance tires better? My cruiser rides very well and the Marathons have worn like iron. What improvement will the Endurance tires provide. And also if I understand correctly the Marathon tire was replaced by the Endurance.

The trailer felt more stable with less sway, side to side movement. The Endurance tires are load range E vs D on the Marathons. I was not over the rating of the Marathons. Also noted that the TPMS indicated less pressure and temp increase vs the Marathons.
I like the fact that the Endurance has a higher speed rating also. With the Marathons at 62mph I felt like I was always on the edge of the rating. Piece of mind is worth a lot.
I purchased the tires at Discount Tire and they will match prices. Goodyear.com at the time had a better price and it was matched.

I am currently running 225/75/15 s that are load range E and one advantage of a 5th wheel is the lack of sway. Also at this stage in life the speed rating does not matter. I prefer the 2 lane to the interstate. That being said I will probably go with Endurance tires because of the past experience with Goodyear. I have them on my camper and my utility trailer.

One thing I am going to look into is going to a 16" tire and wheel not for the load but I need to raise the camper or lower the truck to get a level stance. I was looking at the Goodyear site and they have a 16" tire that is about 4" taller then what I have now so that would raise the trailer about 2" which would help but then I would need new wheels. Something to think about

Dagst1, make sure you have enough Clearance between the trailer and tire to allow for 2 inch less clearance from a taller tire, especially when trailer is traveling rough terrain and bouncing, so not to rub a hole through to your floor.

Correct I would need to cycle the suspension to check for clearance. Just a idea right now.

I changed my wheels & tires to 16" last year. I am running Michelin XPS RIB LT225/75R16 Load Range E. I bought the wheels and tires from Tire Rack. They came mounted and balanced. I only had to bolt them on. Mine are only a couple inches taller than the 15" tires. I run these at 80 PSI, and the peace of mind is well worth it.

So are Crossroads aluminum rims also rated to 80 PSI. I read on a different sight that rims may be rated at different PSI. My Endurance are 225/75R 15 have a Max PSI of 80 which I plan to run them at and I assume the rims are rated or should be rated to 80 PSI also?????????

My original rims are rated for 80psi. The rating was stamped on the back of the rim.

65 psi. From what I understand,the "ST" tires get the stiffness from max air pressure. Anything less then the steel belts in the sidewalls begin to flex. Think of it as a metal coat hanger, its only going to endure so much flexing till the steel break. Run them " ST" tires at what ever the sidewall says to. ( Mine say, 80 psi.)

I sell tires and trailer tires need to no less than 10 % of the max psi or they will run hot

Good pointer, I was not aware of that 10%. Last week I followed a 5th wheel for almost 100 miles from Texas to Lafayette La. on I-10. It was interesting and educational to watch this trailer bounce all over the road, and get launched several times if not many from the road, due to the crappy condition i-10 is in. I also observed how much flex his tires had. Now, if you watch 18 wheel back tires, they appear to never flex. Made.a believer out of me to stay right, and go slow on that patch of road.

Just an observation.
