King pin stabilizer or not?
Just bought a new 5th wheel after many years with a park model. I had a king pin stabilizer when I had my last 5th wheel. Don't recall if it made a difference or not. Any thoughts?

I rather have the x chalks for the tires. They helped me a lot.

Did your Cruiser come with the hydraulic leveling system? If so, you probably don't need a king pin stabilizer.
Even if it did not come with the hydraulic leveling system, you probably don't need one. I had one on my 2011 SOB 5th wheel for a couple of years then removed it. Wasn't much difference and I liked the additional room under the kingpin.

Thanks for the replies. The unit did not come with the hydraulic stabilizers. Right now I'm remaining in a seasonal park. I plan to put concrete blocks under the front jacks to keep the amount of extension as limited as possible. I have chocks for both front and back of the tires on each side. I was more concerned about the weight inside the front of the unit forward of the jacks. Now that I think about it, there isn't much.

I had one rig with the king pin stabilizer. As far as I could tell they are a waste of money. I installed a set of stabilizers on the present 5er and they have pretty much stopped all movement.
There are different brands on the market, this is the one I have.

Keep your eyes open for a new type of hydraulic jacks that should be on the market soon.
The current types (including the Lippets that I have on my SOB 5th wheel) have a single reservoir with plumbing going to each of the six jacks. The new systems has a reservoir and an electric pump at each of the six jacks with electrical connections to a centralized control panel. They are supposed to be very easily installed/retro-fitted and will work on 5th wheels and travel trailers (bumper pulls). They are also supposed to have the auto-leveling function.
No idea about the pricing as yet. (This info is from another RV forum that I frequent.)

I have the X-Chocks, took out a lot of the movement. Still some movement when we are in opposite ends of the rig. Wondering if a king pin stabilizer would help with that? I tried the BAL stabilizer bars. I couldn't install them on the back jacks because the gas line junction was in the mounting location on the curb side. I couldn't find the correct attachment points on the front of the unit as the frame is up above the "garage" since the unit isn't a drop frame.
Any suggestions?

My 2˘ here...We full time. We use them all wheel chocks. King pin stabilizer. Tire blocks. X-Ckocks. Came with front stabilizer in the front. With winds hitting 50 to 60 at times. Its nice to be as solid as possible.

No welding needed if you use the load locks like in the picture in post #9

I tried king pin stabilizers on previous 5vers and as far as I'm concerned they really do not do much. I have 6 point leveling on mine and added steady fast stabilizers which took 95% of the movement out when I was trying to sleep and the DW was at the rear. Also do not notice the washer on spin cycle any more. Great investment

Let me ask a crazy question. I'm a new 5th wheel owner. What are ya ll referring to as "X-Chocks"? are they the chocks that go between both tires making like an X??
Thanks for the education

Oh, and by the way. I have a kingpin stabilizer and it works great to minimize any movement up front

I have a king pin stabilizer, wife still complains about the movement so I got the Winfield crossbar system. Must say it works pretty good.

Yes X-Chocks go between the tires. Helps stabilize the unit and prevent it from rolling.
Theses are X-Chocks.
