Hello Everyone,

I posted this in another forum and figured Id post here also as this is *the* place for Crossroads TT's.

I'm new to RVing sort of. I went camping alot (every weekend with the parents when younger) and after a 25 yr lay over I decided to buy a TT and go again. I miss it alot now that we have been looking at TT's. So I will probably be around alot asking questions that have probably been answered a bunch of times already.

My question is this, well a few maybe:

I want to buy a Crossrods Cruiser TT its the 2004 Crossroads Cruiser 30RL. It is is very good shape has a few things wrong, the top to the stove is just sitting there not bolted down, pretty good squeak in the floor in front of the bedroom door, carpet needs to be steam cleaned (Can the carpets be steam cleaned or is there too much water put down by cleaning it this way?) everything else looks good from a quick inspectionyesterday for about 15 minutes (gonna go backtoday when I have more time). And the price the dealer is asking is $11,995.00. It doesn't seem like they want to budge on the price, is this a good deal for this old of a TT? Should I walk away if I cant get it for xx,xxx.00 price that is recommended by everyone here? and what is that price you think is fair for this unit?

Thank you
Brian

Hi -

Glad you are keeping the tradition alive and starting your own family camping.

Crossroads builds a decent product and has a good reputation. Some things to watch out for are previous water leaks, frame damage/corrosion, inspect roof membrane and seals on from/rear/side of roof membrane, inspect tires for abnormal wear, inspect filon exterior for any delamination.

The items above will determine the ultimate value and answer your question on price. Afterall, I have seen 3 year old campers that are barely a salvage given extensive wear, tear and leaks (on all brands). Example - friends of ours have a 2005 Jayco Jayflight that had the faulty TPO roof, the trailer needs a 5K roof replacement and that is a estimate only for damage seen, unseen damage could drive it higher..

So take your time, open cabinets, look underneath, look under/around windows and get up on the roof. It is critical to spend a good hour or two inspecting the trailer.

All good points that Mike made. You can't be to careful when looking at a used unit. There is usually no way of knowing how the previous owner used it or took care of it. If it looks like it wasn't taken good care of--------it probably wasn't!!
I think you can go into the NADA web site and get an idea of value.

Thanks a bunch for the info I got the posts just before I left so I did what you said and inspected it for about 2-3 hours turning everything on, checking roof, looking down the sides to see if there are any deformities in the sides, front, and rear outside filon. Checked all doors, drawers, and windows, made sure the two fantastic fans worked properly, checked under every foot of the undercarriage for anything that looked out of the norm, etc.

The blue book value low retail was 14,865.00 and average retail was 17,960.00

The dealer showed me their original asking price was 13,995.00 and they just recently lowered it to 11,995.00 hence his story saying he couldnt lower it any more. I did get him to throw in some little extra TP, chems, water hose sewer hose, etc for free and not charge me the dealer prep fee of $200.00. And also to fix anything that is wrong when they prep it to show me all the controls and the such.

So price wise Im happy with it, I did notice that they do take good care of the customer. When i was checking out the TT, the owner came out multiple times asking if I needed anything done or looked at that I couldnt figure out how to work, and he was extremely busy today too, so I think he is one who truly is one of the good ones. I just got that sense of air about him and his staff.

Thanks again

Brian
