We are considering buying a 2006 Crossroads Cruiser -33 foot aluminum

with slide out. It was damaged in the front and is supposedly repaired with a sheet of aluminum and with R20 insulation. It is a great deal at $7500 (Canadian) but maybe it is too good. What are some things that we should be looking before we buy? Here is a link with some pictures of the repair: http://reddeer.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ203207071

With that much work you don't know what REALLY happened or what damage is being covered up. My recommendation is to pass and keep looking.....

WOW!! I would stay away from this this one. Not sure who did the repairs but WTF. I hope the guy was going to kiss you first before anyone bought this one. There are better deals out there, those repairs look like they were done by my 12yr old. If it had been done by a dealer with some type of warranty then maybe I would consider it. Unless you are super handy and have availability to tooling and materials this would not even be considered a handy man special. Sorry, but honestly, keep looking.

I've never seen a Cruiser with the diamond-plate trim along the roof or the sides. Also noticed that the interior pics did not include anything from the entry door forward where I assume the queen bed is...and the interior damage.

Oh Man!! I sure hope the "Randys" at CrossRoads check out the link or at least see the picDon posted! I mean no disrespect to the OP but this rig would scare me. I would be really interested to hear what the original damage was and what caused it. I can't understand why it would need the diamond plate all the way down the side. Did something rip the roof off from front to back? What would the possible scenario be behind this rig. Someone bought it with cash and did not carry insurance on it so when it got damaged they repaired it themselves? Is it a salvaged unit that some insurance company totaled and someone patched up to make a buck? I have to admit I am a "bargain hunter" and if I was looking for something to put on a seasonal lot and not pull around I might give it a look but I would have to know the full story and get some verification on it and I would be doing some serious negotiation. I would think that you could find something better for less.

Amen!! I bet the trusses in the roof are missing or at best mangled and torn from the wall frame. Which could very well explain the plates running the length on the top.

Peg Leg;

I have a 36 Foot Paradise Pointe that would look great sitting on a perm site.

Agree this trailer has some major history.

RUN__RUN as fast as you can and never look back!!!!!!!!
If anybody wanted to buy something to keep them busy, that thing would give you enough work for the rest of your life.

I don't know why everyone says RUN... it only needs about 20K in repairs. LOL. I would not even consider it!!!! It looks like the Red Green fix only missing the duct tape.

Thanks everyone so much for all opinions and tips. We have decided to stay clear of this trailer and wait for one that won't fall apart on us. We are buying our first trailer and will take all the advice we can get so thanks again.

Good decision. Your first (and all) trailer camping experiences should be positive.
