My wife and I are seriously looking at a couple travel trailers. One is the 2016 sunset trail ST 270BH the other is a keystone passport grand touring. They both have similar floor plans. The thing I like about the keystone is the roof structure is aluminum like the side walls. and the bunk beds have the built in ladder for the top bunk. The sunset seems to have more features though that are standard like the outdoor kitchen and the I like how the front has the fiberglass cap. Does anyone here know if the front caps are still prone to cracking? I keep reading these horror stories with the new trailers and it has me second guessing getting one. I know all manufactures have their issues and it seems to be luck of the draw. After all I have read it seams like sunset trail has fewer complaints as compared to most others. I did notice at the dealer the ST had some of the ceiling trim already starting to peel and sag down and the wall paper was peeling as well. I guess from being shut up tight in the August heat. The dealer says all would be fixed when it was purchased. I just wonder though if the unit is a brand new 2016 and it is doing that what it would look like in 5 years. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated.
Can anyone here tell me if the roof trusses are actually wood on the new units? Looks that way from the construction detail. Hoping to get back to the dealer tomorrow but if not it will be another week or so before I can. We're really leaning toward the 270 bh. Looks like a really nice unit.
Wood and engineered wood are two different animals. Engineered wood is a much stronger product. It is not plywood. It's probably stronger than aluminum trusses.
