Potential 2017 Sunset 310 Friday
Hello,
I am new to forum and about to take delivery on a 2017 Sunset 310 Friday. I think this a great place for information and have been reading posts for couple days.
Now I am very concerned after I saw the post on 2016 with the fading problem. This is one reason I am trading the 2013 Kodiak in and don't want to deal with fading again. This may be a game changer because I too thought Crossroads had fixed this issue by reading their brochure.
The other concern I wanted to reach out for advice is my towing vehicle. I will be towing with a GMC 2500 with 6.0 and 3.73 gear. It "suppose" to handle the weight but this is a lot of trailer compared to the Kodiak 263RL.
Anyone have similar situation?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. I was told they had fixed the problem. However maybe the other unit was built before they addressed the problem.

You should be fine, The gross weight of your rv is 9013. Hitch weight is 618 and need to know year, type of cab of your truck to fine out payload, and towing capability.
Caps were supposed to be changed as not to fade. Especially the lighter colors.

Thank you for the info, the GVWR confuses me. It is a Crew cab and if not mistaken 9800lbs capacity. It that GVWR too close or should my capacity be 1000lb over the GVWR?

From factory specs you have a 3123 lb payload capacity,
and a 13000 lb towing capacity.
Check out the link for all factory specs

Great thank you. I came up with 6800lbs on the other site and thought that was wrong.
That swings the bat and will continue with my PDI on Friday. I look forward to this forum as I already learned many things and downloaded the checklist for PDI as suggested.
Will post pics on new member section soon as I take delivery and thanks again for the piece of mind.

We purchased a 2017 Subset Trail this last spring and when the salesman was pitching the extended warranty to us he also presented an exterior protection plan that was available that we did not purchace. I don't know if it would cover the front cap against fading or the term of the coverage. Looking back know that I know the price of repairing/replacing the front cap out of warranty it may be worth checking out. I have put two coats of polymer sealant on our in hopes of protecting it.

ok, thanks. I will definitely check the price for extra protection. The front cap on my Kodiak was estimated 1500.00 and that was cheapest I could find. Of course that is reason we started looking at the new ones.
Does yours show any signs of fading yet?

No it does not. I have put two coats of "Rejex" polymer sealant on the front cap and one coat on the rest of the trailer for u/v protection. I plan on giving the cap one more coat in fall. I am hoping that the effort pays off. Let us know what you find out. Good luck and enjoy the new rig.

Thank you for the info and you have a great site. With advice from this site on the PDI, I printed the checklist before taking delivery on last Friday and so thankful I did.
The unit failed with two major warranty claims and I rejected. The roof had many bubbles in the membrane and dealer agreed it need to be replaced. THe other major was an indention on the corner of front cap that looked like the factory tried to repair.
The Dealer is one of the best I have ever dealt with and very understanding about customer satisfaction. I can't say enough about how pleased I was with their actions.
I have since decided to go with another manufacture but thanks again for the valuable info on this site.
