We still have not pulled the trigger on our new trailer yet but are maybe having some secondary thoughts re the floor plan. We fell inlove with the 30sk especially for the kitchen. After going to the local rv show and going through some other units with a mid trailer entertainment setup I started to wonder if having the tv etc. beside the rear chairs is too close for viewing. I know several of you on the board have this model and was wondering how you find it for tv viewing. We are mostly outside people but if stuck inside want to make sure that part of the unit works well. I know you can tilt the arm out but do you find it works ok. The reason I ask is they have a new model shown this year with a mid entertainment setup that may function better for that but my wife would have to give up a bit of her big kitchen. Any thoughts from you guys that own an sk model.
Thanks

I prefer the TV viewing in the 32CK and 31RE. At the shows I felt the 30SK was way to close.

So many campers have the TV directly to your side which is uncomfortable for longer viewing. Our TV is directly in front of the RV and also uncomfortable. They made some with the TV directly opposite the couch over the main door which made a lot more sense to me. In our Sunset the TV was in a great location opposite the couch.

Viewing from the couch is more comfortable than from the closest chair. The chair on the curb side is OK.
Having said that, we don't go camping to watch TV!! At most the news or weather. Get outside and enjoy the world. You can watch TV at home!!
A lot of our trips, the TV antenna is never raised and the TV is never turned on.
BTW, my wife wouldn't give up that kitchen even if the trailer didn't have a TV.Edited by: BipeFlier

Yes we are mostly for camping but no kids, 5 weeks holidays, longer tripsand retirement not too far out would also like something that is like home away from home when not at the lake or in the bush. My wife is the queen of cooking so kitchen space is important but we don't want to buy something that does not function all the way then buy another a few years down the road.

I have kids so I have no horse in this race but I much prefer the overall balance of the 32CK

The TV in the 30Sk is not as close as you might think. The largest unit to fit in the cabinet is about a 26" or so which is not all that big. With the slide out, you are about 8' from the screen when sitting on the couch. The closest chair is the the only position that is not good. Even from the dinette table, the viewing is good. In other floor plans, we felt the front position WAS too far away, in others, you could be looking over the dinette chairs to watch TV.

We love our 30sk. The location of the TV has not been a problem. The closest chair is not good for viewing but there is plenty of room to move the chair next to the table on movie nights. We would not trade the kitchen for a better view of the TV.

I agree with kjones9820. Would not give up the great kitchen versus TV location. We have a 26" flat screen and we angle it to favor both chairs. I generally set in the chair closest to the TV and have no problem viewing it or being comfortable. It is also great viewing from either the sofa or the dinette. Had a trailer with the TV way forward of the chairs and it was not a good viewing situation. As always floorplans become a very personal decision based on wants and needs and the compromises we make to achieve a balance.

The 26in tv is fine for us, the closest chair can be moved, but I can watch comfortably from the dinette too, so we're happy..(and my wife insisted on extra kitchen counter space)...so if she's happy... Im happy...

I have the PP 30CK with the same floor plan. We do not have a problem when watching the TV. Yes from the chair closest to the entertainment unit could have a problem but I no one ever sits there. Of course bigger trailers do give you more room but we are happy with our size.

Thanks for the thoughts. That is the other issue that we are trying to keep the size of the trailer down and the others we have seen are much larger with the ent. unit in the middle.
I also know the saying happy wife = happy life, that is why I am thinking of the kitchen as she is the queen of cooking. Only want to do this once for a lot of years so am just trying to make sure I got the angles covered.

Calgarygringo, if you decide on the cf30sk, I would strongly recommend that you get the Patriot option. It is well worth the extra cost for all the extras and conveniences you get

Yes for sure the Provincial/Patriot
For us Canadians they have the Provincial edition and have my quote in hand ready to go. Just also have to sell off my KZ before I get the new one. RV selling season is coming soon.........

We have been living in our 30sk for a week, and plan on going for one more week. We don't have a problem with the set-up; I usually set in the curb side chair, and my wife uses the couch. Sam, my cat, uses the empty chair; unless he decides that my wife or I should move elsewhere.

We have the center front TV on our 04 Silverado and it is uncomfortable to watch TV in the chair nearest the TV so my husband made a slide out shelf with a center post to mount the TV on with one of those wall mounts. When he is watching we just pull the shelf out and tilt the TV towards him.

Hello thereCalgarygringo from a fellow AO member, Calgarian AND 30SK owner! I occsssionally check out the Cruiser form and happened to recognize your "name".
We purchased our30SK last year and just love it (exceptthe small awning). While the TV placement is too close for the one chair closest to it - it is not too bad for the one furthest away and adjacent to the couch. We sometimes just swingout and swivel the TV for better viewing. While the wife & I generally travel alone, when we have had company - moving the chairs works well!
Sorry gotta go now and pack - the "boys" and I are off to Duck Lake, MT for 3 days of ice fishing for big rainbows!
Cheers!
