Sunset Trail Insulation

We recently purchased a 2012 ST30RE. We have the upgraded Apolo insulation package. Does any one know the R-value of the insulation package for the Sunset Trail? The values are not listed anywhere that I can find.

I think the Polartec package says something like "Roof - R27; Floor - R28, and Sides - R12" Don't quote me but that is what I recall...I know I camped out in 26 degree weather and the heat set at 62 did not come on very often. The summer and the heat will prove things...I am looking at toppers for the slides...but I'm looking at the new methode, that goes on and stays on...can't remember what it's called but I'm waiting for more people to get in and see what the comments are about it.

We are thinking of ordering one with the Apollo Tech insulation and cannot find out anything about it. The salesman have no idea and act like they never heard of it.

I would think if they would like to make a sale, they would get off their dead end and get the answers for you!!!
If they can't do that, I would be shopping some place else.

We were camping in Spring Green WI in the 105 degree heat this past week with no shade and I'm glad we had all the insulation packages as our A/C couldn't keep the temps down. At night the the 30QB would get down to low 70's by 10AM it was mid 70's , by 3 PM it was mid 80's. The A/C never shut off. Finally I decided that I would just use the Quick Cool feature and dump into the main room then in the evening close the Quick Cool the cool the rest of the unit.

It so was hot you couldn't even hold you hands on the inside of the window frames.

Salda...purchase some of the bubble insulation wrap and cut it to fit some of your larger windows. Downside....can't see out....good side, I can keep my camper at 73-degrees in upper 90's heat.

Ditto; Bubble insulation and/or the silver windshield sunblock or material, works well, and DW added a blanket to the big picture window that faces directly east and catches the sun all day!

I don't agree with their r-values listed. My parents have a class C with the foam insulation and I think it does a better job.
At the time we got ours they offered polar wrap and we bought that. I think it helps but still wonder if the foam would perform better.

We tested two trailers side by side at the Texas rally this year with a infrared heat gun, one (ours) with batt insulation and one with foam block insulation. The results from readings on the walls, and ceilings were within 2* of each other between the two trailers. Both had the bubble wrap upgrade insulation packages.

No the batt insulation was the lower reading. To me 2* is negligible.

That's cool that ya'll did that.

I have read tech articles where foam insulation in homes performes better than batts. I would have thought there would be a measurable difference in a camper.

We figured it would be a good test since we had two trailers sitting side by side one with batt and one with foam. The conditions were the same for both units and we took several readings at different areas inside both trailers. I think most manufactures are headed towards block foam insulation in the future.

We have had both---the bonded wall and the wall with bat insulation. Have never run a test like Keith and Hal did, but my personal preference is the bonded wall. In my opinion the insulation job has to be superior in a bonded wall. There shouldn't be any voids and I believe they are stronger. Bat insulation has a way of settling/falling down. I have had certain areas on our rig opened up, and I can personally testify to the fact that there is definitely room for improvement.
