I did not cut into the roof as the staples were raised but hadn’t broken through. I put Eternabond tape over the staples after I cleaned the roof and so far, this is working.

Thanks for the reply. You are correct about it being on the same switch for safety reasons. We are keeping an eye on this and we only have both on when we are inside the trailer. So far, so good.
