If you check it the way I said, the meter should read approx. 13.6 volts when plugged in---if the batteries are good.
Unplugged it should read approx. 12.5 and go down as the battery depletes.

If you have a volt meter, you should be able to check to see if the converter is working.
Unplug the trailer from AC. Check what the voltage is at/on the battery. Plug the trailer back in to AC....
