I run mine when going south on about 50. Been doing this for 4 years. This gets the frost out of the walls and camper comes up to temp much faster. Everybody I now does it.

I would try it at home, the worst that should happen is the furnace will shut down from overheating. IMHO you will be all right. I cover 2 of mine to force more heat to bathroom area when traveling.
