Looks like crossroads changed there design, at least on the Sunset trails. On mine there is a verticle piece of plywood deviding the storage space into two halfs and this vertical piece adds plenty...

I have not experianced any sagging or cracking due to the thickness of the plywood. I would not worry about it unless it becomes an issue. AlsoI have not read of anyone else having problems with this...
