You do not want to start hacking up the underbelly. First, you need room to work in there to access the valve and the cover does serve a purpose.

You really need to get it in the air and remove the underbelly. Just s bunch of sheet metal screws holding it in place. It’s a job to replace since your on your back and. Well...it’s a black tank...
