Joe, is the valve mounted to the case of the stove and can it be repositioned enough so that knob can be pushed in far enough to work? So in other words, the knob is bottoming out on the stove case...

Joe, it sounds like your thermocouple is bad....

Joe, it sounds like your thermocouple is bad. Very easy to replace. It is the line with the small "sensor" that you mentioned and should route back to the pilot section of the main burner valve.
