The storage doors white spring loaded clips, they areon for a short time and will start rusting where the pin goes through spring which does not look good and will not close correctly has anyone solved this problem?

The neighbor has a Laredo and it has a chrome or stainless steal clip he has had this 5er longer than ours and I have not seen any rust as of now, does any one know where Keystone gets the clips?

Try Camping World or a Laredo dealer

I've never had one rust on the past 3 campers. I did have one break but it was easy to find at CW.

I have seen the metal type on some campers. Perhaps you can Google them

No I do not have rust on mine. It might be they got a hold of some bad material when they made your batch. There are several methods of the wire and metal treatment for rust. The biggest cost is stainless steel. The second is galvinzing two methods are used the wire or steel is precoated with the gal, the problem that can occur is when the part is made if the coat is not on right you can flake off particals of the gal than water can get under the plating and thus rust. the other method is they manufacture the product and than pour the whole batch into a tanks to be coated. One tank removes the oil if this is weak or not left in for the proper time you will still have some oil on the product. Thus you create a problem where the coating will not adhere. The last thing is some one just plain use the wrong stuff and it just did not get caught.

Thanks for the replies fhenn, very good information on the process. I did not give a good description of where the rust is occurring and I may be too picky, but in constructive discussing of the issues with a product, wewill improve on the product. Anyway the area that is rusting is the spring and pin, the paint is holding upgreat on the clippart. Of course, our property is attached to a small lake and that may have some thingto do with the rusting.
