Looking at crossroad
. we are going to use it to snowbird in and also do a lot of midwest summer camping and fishing. We pull a 16' boat behind our present 5th wheel. What is the difference between a Kingston and a cruiser patroit addition?

For starters the Kingston is full profile where as the Cruiser is a Mid Profile. Does the Kingson line even offer a unit that can double pull?

My guess is they can all double pull if you don't mind giving up your frame warranty.

Cruiser Patriot addition offers a lot of nice extras over the standard cruiser. Not that familiar with the Kingston.

Where did you find your patriot addition,or did you order it without looking at one?

How much headroom you have in the unit. In the Cruiser we use to have I had to lean my head over to stand up in the bedroom but in the Paradise Pointe I don't. If you look at the two different units side by side you will see the difference.

The difference is typically a flush floor bedroom and drop frame which allows a huge under bedroom pass through storage. Typically a full profile has about 6'6" of headroom in the bedroom. A mid-profile will have about 6'4" and a step up to about 6'.
The Cruiser Patriot package adds stuff that is mostly standard or commonly ordered on the Kingstons (solid surface counters, larger fridge, HW heater, etc. and 16" wheels and Rotoflex pin box).
If it were my money I would get the Kingston for the headroom and flush floor bedroom and huge underneath storage.

That is very true I hadn't thought of that, A lot of the patroit options are standard on the Kingston. The Kingston looks a little short on cabinet room in the kitchen.

I think the Cruiser Patriot is an extremely nice unit! If you are no taller than 6 ft. 1inch then a Cruiser will give you the head room necessary and a Kingston would only be costing you more, but you would gain a little larger storage underneath... if your taller then maybe a Kingston would suite you better.. I know there is a great dealer in Michigan that sells the Cruisers... Midway RV

I can't answer your question about the difference between Kingston and Patriot, but I can tell you, you will probably be over length pulling a 16' boat. You only allowed 65' total length.

We have a Kingston KF33SK and are considering a little smaller unit so we have looked seriously at the Cruiser units also. I'm 6'2" and the loss of headroom is no big deal. However, from what I have seen in photos, The cruiser has a step down by the sliding doors closet and another step down from the bedroom into the bathroom area. The steps are not a big deal to use but if just once forget about that step in themiddle of the night....with my luck it would be my driving foot and myDW would now get a chance topull the rig for the first time. On the plus side, the cruiser is about 12" lower than the Kingston and that makes a big difference in some of the campgrounds. Last year I had to have one campground owner cut some branches for fear of ripping a hole in the roof. I'm not sure if anybody has ever recorded a difference in gas mileage with the different heights or wind resistance but I think there is very little difference. I think if those steps were not there in the bedroom area we would be looking seriously at the Cruiser

Our Cruiser CF30SK has a step about 8 or 9" tall at the right side of the bed. If you get out on the right side, you step clear down onto the floor or the so called "dressing step". If you get out of bed on the left you do have to step down when you get to the right side of the bed.
I have plans to put a small step night light on this step to remind us at night.

We have a 09 Patriot 28 RL. Bought it sight unseen from the factory. DH built a step on the dressing area side of the bed and a short one to fill in the step on the closet side. Covered both with matching carpet and no is having trouble in or out of bed. we love the extras that come with the patriot edition. Haven't seen a Kingston, tho. Get what works for you

Thanks for all the tips we are still shopping. We are running a regular cab GMC to try to stay close ha to the length limits. Does anyone have condensation problems with the aluminum frame?

Thanks for all the tips. We ordered a Kingston 30SB sat. We like the full profile with the flush floor in the bed room and the huge basement storage area. We have done a lot of shopping and this unit at 32'5" overall length really has the most to offer for the money. Larry

I too pull a boat. Just bought a kingston 305. If i am not mistaken the kingston has an 10" I beamunderbody frame and the patriot has an 8"underbody frame. Another difference is in the height. Another difference is in the weight of the unit. I think the Crossroads Patriot can be towed with a half ton truck and the kingston has to be towed with a three quarter ton truck.
