Quick question. On my light/indicator panel there is a switch that says Blk 1 or Blk 2. As far as I know there is only 1 Black Water tank (based on the fact there is only 1 dump valve!!). When I move the switch, I get either an indication for a full tank (4 LEDs) or an empty one (0). I always dump the black tank - so I know it it is empty right now. What is the switch for??????? Am I missing a dump valve??

Only one black tank - you aren't missing any valves. It should be labelled as BLK 1 on the board and that is where your reading should come from for what level it is at. The other one won't be connected to anything. The panels are standard for most of the trailers so they connect what is needed and leave the other ones there. You should have two Gray tanks and 1 Black tank. There are threetanks in total on these units (not including the Fresh Water tank).

I am set-up right now in the Annapolis Valley - just checked the switch. On Blk 1 - it shows 1 LED, on Blk 2 it shows 4. I suspect then the where the switch has no sensor - it is reading full? Thanks for the quick feedback WildWest.

That would be my guess because I know you don't have 2 Black tanks.

Not sure why they put in a 2 position rocker switch - probably a "common" panel for many RVs. We have only 1 black tank. My push button switch on the monitor panel provides indication of the black tank level when the rocker switch set to tank 2 - BLK 2

Bob, when you select the Blk 1, what reading do you get?

X2. Blk 1 isn't hooked up.

I believe it is a generic panel some units have a second bath. the rocker lights in both directions 1 or 2. The majority of units have one blk tank and only one set of sensors. Once i figured it out i made a small dot for reference.

Turns out - BLK 2 is the tank switch that is hooked to a sensor. After dumping and a 10 minute flush - the tank still shows 1/3rd full..... I love those "crappy" (excuse the pun) capacity sensors....

Time for a "GEO" treatment.

Is there a substitute for Calgon Water Softener? I have looked everywhere here in Halifax NS (including Wally World and all the large grocery stores) no joy on Calgon....

In Canada I just ordered earlier this year two boxes of Calgon water softener from well.ca - free shipping if your order is over a certain amount. I added in a couple if dog toys and got it over the amount for free shipping. I couldn't find it local anywhere either.

I firmly believe the purpose of the black water level sensors are to irritate, aggravate, and in general cause grief for the owners. After the first time they read wrong you don't ever know if you can trust them. FWIW my 2 week old trailer is reading crazy, from the git-go. Am I going to complain about, nah. Seen too many complaints and had my share of problems with 3 trailers with the "frustration lights" My last I used the GEO method and although it seemed to work sometimes both black tanks would read full and one of them isn't even there....
