So I'm guessing the water heater is LP only? The switch next to the door has a cover over where an electric water heater switch would be. We also ran out of LP in one of the tanks this weekend (with full hookups). Wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for the hot water not working. Once I switched tanks and got the air out of the lines it fired up just fine and we had hot water again.

Chromag, you might want to contact CR re: the water heater. Current Zinger specs indicate that standard water heater is gas/electric.

Your hot water heater may have a small black switch located at the bottom left side of the heater accessible when you open the out-side access panel.there will be no inside switch for this one.

Z1 is a propane only Atwood heater. Was in 2012 anyways, there was not even an option for electric. Not sure about 2013.
Edit.. just checked, and 2013 is showing an electric heater as an option.Edited by: hippy45

I have a 2013 Z1 with gas only water heater. The control panel has a covered slot for electric. Yes it is an option on this model. Not sure if current water heater can be converted to both electric or gas but suppose it is possible. I have never emptied the first bottle of gas while on a trip in mine. I do always refill when I get home. Always start with full tanks. Haven't been out longer than two weeks at a time so far. Hope to do better this year.

What model do you have BourbanRam? We have 271bh, camped a few times last fall when we got it, hoping for more this year. We are planning a trip to NewBrunswick in August. Tows well, and has a full load of featuresthat we really like. Good bang for the buck!
We have not used a tank yet, using furnace, and propane water every trip.Edited by: hippy45

Mine is a 291rl. Bought ours June 2012. Been out on several two to four night trips on days off and took a two week trip to FL and back Nov about 1200 mile round trip. As you said tows well. I have not had any real problems with mine. I haven't had to use the furnace yet other than to test it out. Have an electric oil filled heater that I have used and that has been sufficient so far. Have a one week trip 31 Mar - 6 April. May need the furnace that week . Yes the Z1 has everything needed and the price is fair. But yet this is our first trailer so I have nothing to compare.

We just purchased a Z-1 Bunkhouse and brought it out to ourseasonalsite this weekend. Got everything working fine except for the hot water. We want to set it up using the electrical not gas as we are paying for a full servicesiteand dagnabit we want to get our moneys worth. So here's the problem. We cant find the on switch. Owners manual says its in the panel outside by the back of the camper. Opened it up. No onswitch. I should have taken a picture. On another diagram it shows the switch but its not shown within the diagram but just under it. There is a switch just inside of the entrance door for the gas and a slot for the electric but no switch. The specs inside of thecupboardsays its gas/electric.

KAP, our Z1 is gas only, think it was an option starting 2014 for gas/electric.

We were told when we bought it that it was gas/electric and the specs say the same. I am going to have to go to the dealer and find out more.

The switch may be on the left lower bottom cornor. Buryed behind stuff. If not they do make an electric unit to go in the drain hole and plugs int an electric outlet.
