Our mattress in our new camper (2012 ST30RK) is as hard as a rock. We thought that once we slept in it a time or two that it would soften up, WRONG!! So my question is should I just get another one or what should I do?? Come on people tell me something quick. My wife is not real fun to be around when she doesn't sleep well.

A foam mattress topper did the trick for us.

x2 on the foam topper...they come in many thicknesses and brands...some better than others...but you should be able to find something that will "soothe" things for you

Yep, amazing how poor the mattress is in new trailers. I think they are the new 'springless' versions

My guess is that manufacturers have a hard time getting more money for a better mattress when shoppers can't 'see' the difference. It's like trying to sell people on 'better' thicker insulation or other items that can't be readily seen or appreciated.

We had the same problem on our 2007 TT. Bought a memory foam topper and that made a huge difference. Just did the same thing before our first trip in our new ST. Topper arrived today from Amazon.

We used the topper on our old RV bed. Worked much better. When I ordered the new unit I asked about upgrades for the mattress.
My sales rep told me that it was a much better deal to just go to a mattress store and buy an aftermarket mattress....
So that is what we will do.

You are sooooo right, the mattress does feel like a rock!! We purchased a memory foam mattress topper from Costco (if you have a full-size queen it will fit perfectly) I believe it was 2.5 or 2 1/4" thick, then added a mattress pad and now it really feels better than our mattress at home, can't wait to take the trailer out on our first trip and see how it is after a night sleeping on it.

Ours was the same and we got a 3" memory topper at Big Lots for $98. It's much better but I think the lack of a box spring is quite evident.

I must agree, I amon my fifth travel trailer (ST29RL) and none of them had a mattress that was comfortable. I just purchase a different mattress and added a memory foam topper--WORKS GREAT! Check E-bay for some really great deals on foamtoppers

Memory Foam mattress topper from Walmart, 2 1/2" was $125, the4" was $150. Yes we bought both. The 4" would not slide underneath the dresser on our RF 38 FL, so we had to unmake the bed & roll it up each time we traveled. Gave it to our son & replaced with the

2 1/2", & it works & sleeps just as good.
