Using a Bottle Jack

So I am having some issues leveling out 33BD. First it lists to the left when looking at the propane bottles so I put some blocks under the left side and all is perfect according to my bullet level. Two days later....it's listing too much to the right!!! I re-hook up, remove one of the stack of two blocks and re-park....perfect. Guess what....a day or two later...I'm listing too far to the left :an gry:

So, here is my question(s)....

1. Does anyone have an issue with leveling?? Can I try and level the unit with the slides out?? One of the "rational" explanations I can come up with is the slides are messing it up and causing the trailer to shift in the gravel.

2. Can I use a 12 ton bottle jack near the tires on the frame to help level it and as a bonus take some of the bounce out? I don't want to lift the trailer just help "angle" it.

thanks for the continued help and patients!!!

I've never had the problem you are describing, some settling occurs over multiple days due to soft ground, but nothing that changes within 24 hrs. All I can suggest is using larger pads under all jacks and under the tires to minimize settling. Also, nothing wrong with using multiple bottle jacks under the frame for stability, you just don't want to actually lift the trailer off the ground using a single jack. And it is a good idea to use a wood block between the frame and jack to distribute the force applied to the frame.

I don't think that the slides are directly causing the trailer to shift, but if you are sitting on very loose gravel, any movement front-to-back or side-to-side is going to shift the gravel and throw the trailer out of level. What will help is getting as much weight off the suspension as possible, getting close to lifting the tires, so that most of the weight is carried by the hard point jacks and not the flexible suspension.

My TT tends to lean towards the drivers side. I add levelers under the tires to raise the drivers side. After awhile the drivers side still goes down.

I've added the Lynx (?sp) levelers on the door side and have been consistently listing slightly to the slide side. That being said, the bubble is within the lines so I guess it's close enough. I'm not sure why I was having so much trouble as, even in this loose gravel at our lake lot, my 26 foot TT rarely needed to be levelled in the same spot.

As for the bottle jack, I think I am going to place a 4x4 from frame to frame extending from the main door steps to the main slide and use it as a stabilizer. I am only going to slightly jack it up in irder to take some of the bounce out since the trailer will not be moving until end of September......any thoughts???
