Drip Rail Over Slideout

I have had sporadic problems with the large slide leaking on top when retracted. The dealer has attempted to fix unsuccessfully. Not a serious leak but annoying because you have to dry the top of the slide before travelling; otherwise it ends up on the floor. I noticed an older model, probably a 2012 or 2013 I'm guessing. It had a separate large drip gutter over the slide with spouts on each end. This was in addition to the useless one that runs end to end.
Has anyone purchased a 2013 or 2014 with this gutter installed. Seems to me the literature when we bought the trailer mentioned this a selling point. Dealer just gave me the "deer in the headlights" look when I asked him. I havn't contacted Crossroads yet.

Ya mine is the same way, I tried some silicon over and under the seam but that didn't work. Needless to say it is a bit annoying

All,

I still struggle with the idea that I need to buy another product (topper) when the slide is not sealing as it should from the factory. Am I missing something here? Isn't the seal intended to sweep as the slide comes in? I'm on my second trailer with slides and not really had this issue. Maybe just lucky? Should I expect problems down the road if I don't add toppers?

Not challenging anyone's recommendation, just trying to be clear on if I need to buy toppers to preserve my investment.

By your description, it is not so much the drip rail/gutter leaking as it is the wiper blade on top of the slide is not wiping or sealing correctly. Is this correct? Watch the top of the slide and the wiper as someone else brings in the slide. Your looking for "missed" areas that the wiper does not touch the top of the slide....maybe a dip in the slide top? I don't have this problem but maybe if this is the issue you can better describe it to your dealer.

Seal should sweep as slide comes in. I can see the benefit of a topper but don't really think it should be necessary. Dealer should check to make sure it is aligned properly.

I agree with Tim D. Wiper should take care of standing water.

Let me clarify my issue. The water is coming in on top of the slide while it is retracted. So the bulb seal, which I believe is integral with the wiper seal, is not sealing properly during heavy rains. A second larger drip rail over the slide would channel the water away from the top of the slide. My question was ...... did anyone buy a recent ST that had this large drip rail?

I had the same problem, it did not always leak sometimes it would and other times it wouldn't. I'm still not a hundred percent sure why. I attributed it to the cleanliness of the slide roof. I wanted to install a topper anyway to help with the slide maintenance and keeping debris off the top, The fact that it never gets water in it anymore open or closed is a (bonus)

I drove my trailer out to Crossroads for warranty work. They ended up replacing the pan and corners on the inside bottom of the slide where the water is intended to collect and drain out the unit.

Mine is 2013 ST25RB and I do not have a second drip rail over the slide. Slide may not be seating properly? If you get a bunch of twigs or nuts/acorns etc on top w/out cleaning them off then yes it can and will affect the bulb seal as well as wiper. I did this once and had to clear the debris from both the inside and outside the slide.
