Extended Warranties
As some of you know, we have had more trouble with our trailer than most people, probably just bad luck. The only good part is that we got a 2 year warranty with it when we bought it in April 2013.
Crossroads has been great and we have had all our issues addressed. We are now wondering if we should buy an extended warranty before the factory warranty runs out.
What kind of experiences have people had with these warranties? Are they worth it? Any particular one that is best?
Any input would be helpful.

I personally believe in them and have purchased one for 7 years. When I bought the 5er at the Hershey show, the factory gave me $1000 towards the warranty purchase. With all the electrical, mechanical and electronic gadgets on the rv I feel it is worth the investment. But I'm sure others do not believe in them.

Have not done it.. Make sure you do your due diligence and throughly investigate them.
I have talked to folks who purchased and have not used it and some who are disappointed in what is actually covered.

Just saw Good Sams Club warranty anyone know if that one is a good one? I haven't been in to read it all yet but doesn't look bad. They have a 6 year for $25 per month or $1200 full term. you can pay quarterly, mo, year or pay it all. sounds like a fair price for my camper. I still have 8 mo from factory on mine but want to get ready.

x2 Socoguy. The extended warranty usually will NOT cover as much as the factory warranty.

We have the Good Sam Extended Service Plan. Used it earlier this year to get the furnace repaired and fireplace replaced. All work done at the same time. The service center contacted Good Sam, got everything approved and did the work. At this time very satisfied with the warranty.

Where is the work done when you have a Good Sam extended warranty?

The work can be done at any rv repair shop that works with warranty companies. In my case the work was done at a facility in Conroe, TX. They were very familiar with Good Sam ESP. They diagnosed the problems with the furnace and fireplace, did a repair estimate, called Good Sam ESP for approval and did the repairs.

I also have Good Sam. Check out the web page for what is covered. Seems it covers all the systems. But I don't think it covers water leak damage. They told me that that is usually a maintenance problem that it is the responsibility of the owner to make sure it does not leak.

Yes and one of the most frequent problems. You have to do regular inspection and maintenance and hopefully catch problems early.

Most other rv issues are not as devastating as a water leak. Since you cannot see into the walls, floor and roof the damage is happening unbeknown to you. Checking the exterior of the rv is probably the most important maintenance item you can do on an rv. I had an issue with water infiltration behind the upper running lights on my previous rv. They had a 2 inch hole in the wall for at 1/8" piece of wire. Water ran behind the lights and damage my interior wall. Check everywhere where there is a opening in the skin of the rv along with all seams.

just talked to the dealer. My extended warranty covers all, except "cosmetic" stuff.
for instance, water leaks, causing damage is NOT covered, as well as "normal"
wear and tear.
