We will be traveling during the month of July. Thank you for all the suggestions. I'm making a list and going through checking them out on the internet.

Depending on just what you have your sights set on as far places to stay, The month of July is a pretty busy month for tourism. Some places might require a reservation if you want to stay there. busy-busy-busy

x2 on Grizzly...we stayed at the KOA, and Grizzly was closer to everything and appeared to be better kept.

I concur! We traveled after Labor Day and found some campgrounds fully booked. The west is a big tourist destination for a lot of people, and for good reason (so much awesome stuff to see).

July being a very busy travel and vacation month with school out you would be wise to make some reservations. Many of the places on your itinerary will be quite busy.
Enjoy the planning.

Beaver Lake looks like the place in South Dakota. The Rafter J. looks nice but it's a little pricey and Rottweilers are not aloud. We are still on the fence about taking the dogs.

Bring me a pup and I will babysit them while you are gone.

Folks, just a quick comment. We have been taking trips each year for the past 10 years or so. I use "RVParky.com" for my planning and routing. You will need to register but it is free. Also, you can share trips.

I had looked at that site and wondered how a park could have a 5 star rating and have zero reviews ??? Who does the rating ?

I use the app as well to find a park. But then I go on the Internet to find more info. I feel the same way 5 stars and no reviews?

Hello, fellow Rotty RVer! We have found many places won't let us bring our Big Girl...very frustrating. Purchased just so we can bring her and then find some difficulty finding parks. Do you have any recommendations for finding Rotty friendly places?

Fortunately here in Fl we never have a problem with the Rotts. What I do is look for the park we want and then just call them up.

Bert,
You know you are going to have to give us park by park details when you get back, so keep copious notes.....This is very similar to a trip I'm planning to take soon..

We have a pitt mix and ALWAYS bring our girl....
if they wants my money, they takes my girls
I think you will find out 'in the middle' is a lot more forgiving for the 'dangerous' dogs ! east coast and west coast are where the issues come in...

Not to say some in the middle are not an issue, but like stated, call ahead or look at sites that might tell you --> https://www.goodsamclub.com/LoginSta....aspx&Access=3

We travel with a cat, not a dog, but we are blown away by the sheer number of RVers who travel with dogs. As a matter of fact, some people travel by RV because they have dogs and it is easier with RVs than hotels.

I am not aware of any breed discrimination in campgrounds, but my husband witnessed a Labradoodle being attacked by two smaller dogs at the campground we were at in Nashville. All three dogs were on leash, but the elderly owner of the smaller dogs was unable to control her dogs. Apparently the older dog did not fight back.

So there can be bad dogs of any breed or size.
