Going to recieve a zinger28bh in a month or so, coming from a 6 man tent so new to the trailering world. What modifications have you done or would like to do or have seen that makes life easier or more convient while camping. Looking for ideas such as storage, hangers, i dont know just looking for what people have added to there stock RV's to make life more convient inside or outside. Would love to see pictures as well. TkS.

Zinger28hb,
There is a mods section on this forum with some pretty good ideas. Otherwise you could check out rv.net, I have found a few good ones there.

Congrats on your new unit

Travel well,
Jim

Congrats on the new unit and welcome to the forum. When we got our new unit I packed stuff in there I thought I would use. What I did was I put sticky notes on articles. At the end of the camping season, if it had a sticky note attached I did not use it and did not need it taking up space. So it was removed. Like Jim said, there are some good ideas on the forum for modifications. Have fun making new camping memories.

we have a very similar floor plan in the zinger 26BL. in the 2 yrs we have owned here is what we have done:
1) switched to power tongue jack (this is now a must have item for DH)
2) changed shower head to an oxygenics shower head plus a cut off switch (oxygenics gives more power and uses less water than one in TT)
3) went to target and bought little shelving units that we slid into the cabinets for our clothes (cheap, simple ones from the bathroom aisle). DH has been asked to remove the hanger bar this summer.
4) over the door hangers for coats and towels (one for each side of the bathroom door) and little stick up hooks around the trailer for keys, hats and odds/ends
5) max air vent covers. a must for leaving vents open in the rain.
6) spring rods in the medicine cabinet to hold things in place when traveling.
7) more of a decoration but DD is afraid of the dark and there is no close outlet for a nightlight so we put up glow in the dark stickers for her.
8) currently trying to affix a netting for the pack n play door so we can keep it open for airflow and not let bugs in.
9) picked up plastic stackable drawers for master bedsides. very nice having drawers there for things.
10) 2" foam mattress topper (made a world of difference for us).

other ideas I'm working on: better shelf in shower for shampoo/soap, toilet paper holder, paper towel holder, DH is thinking about changing the interior lights to something nicer since all of ours are the standard old style plastic things. also gonna put a tap light in the pass thru storage area.trying to find a way to insulate pack n play door. bunk gets hot in summer and cold in winter. summer was solved w/ fan. winter is more difficult.

wow. I hadn't realized how much we had actually done and how much I've still been thinking about doing until I typed this out. have fun making her your own!

Not sure if this link will work

http://forums.crossroadsrv.com/forum...s.asp?TID=5112

But a few things I did was
-make a ladder
-split the curtain in two for a top and bottom individual curtain
-add 12 volt outlet for DVD players to each bunk

Concerning your screen for your pack n play door - I bought at Pet Smart what's called Magic Mesh Hands-Free Screen Door. It has (2) 83 in x 19.5 in mesh panels - (12) hook and loop strips (20) wood tacks. Hands-free screen door Magic Mesh opens easily then closes itself behind you using 18 powerful magnets. Let the air in bugs out. Goes up in seconds with no tools required and stays up all season long. Plus it folds up for easy storage. Fits single doors, sliding doors, RV"s and more. This might work for you. You might be able to get it at Amazon also.

Thanks. We are trying something very similar that has Velcro but its mot staying up very well. The magnets and Velcro don't appear to be strong enough.

We have a 19' TT with 7 dual lamp ceiling fixtures (plus a single). We've started doing more dry camping and found that we were limited by our battery life more than anything (no generator). So we switched to LED bulbs that directly replace the 921 incandescent OEM lamps. Instead of 12 watts for each bulb (which draw 1 Amp each), the new ones draw just 1.2 Amps, but are as bright as a 15 watts bulb (155 lumens). Found them at Amazon for a reasonable price (not cheap). They last almost forever, and generate no heat. We went for the warm white lamps as these are a little more pleasing at night - less bluish and glaring. I have no qualms about leaving a pair or two on while working around the trailer, and have no worries about battery power now.

The 3M stick on hooks are great, and can easily be removed if you don't like where you've put them.

Lastly, I purchased 4 of the stick on, battery powered LED fixtures (round, about 2-1/2 across, and 1/2 inch thick). Placed them under some shelves above the bed, in the closet, and over our table. I can press to turn on or off, and they provide just enough light if you want to watch TV or work on a computer, and not keep your partner awake.

By far and away the best improvement is a 4" memory foam pad to add to the mattress. Bought ours at walmart but available everywhere. Worth more than any thing else I've done. Don't worry if it is a little longer than the original mattress, itcan overhangthe endand much cheaper than replacing mattress avoid the cheap ones as they are never as advertised. We bought one for home then. If you or someone you know can sew, you can modifypads to fit your bunks also.

Setting up stick-on bubble levels on front was next on the best bang for the buck list. I then took pictures of valves for water, and especially connections at the battery in case the labels that I placed on them regarding polarity colors wear off.

Enjoy your new Zinger, we are considering getting 26bl as replacement for current zinger that is prematurely aging. Edited by: uphaul

During the winter while I've been waiting to take my new camper out I have done the following to it:
strengthened the queen bed upstairs
added a memory foam topper to the queen bed
added memory foam to both bunk beds
mounted a 32" Samsung LED T.V. in the bedroom
added a backup camera
replaced all the interior incandescent bulbs with LEDs
recaulked the bathroom skylight
replaced the mounting screws and recaulked the omni-directional T.V. antenna
added a TST TPMS

Move my 32" from our bedroom to the basement. Next install a 40" in the bedroom, that's left over from our home.

Also hung some art in the bedroom.

The best prices I've found are on eBay.
