Went to twist the 2 tabs to open the flapper on the stove's exhaust vent when the flapped fell out of the vent cover on the outside of the Cruiser. The little tabs on the top sides of the flapper had broken off.
Does anyone have an idea if the flapper can be replaced or do I have to replace the whole vent cover. Where would I get the vent cover if I have to replace it.
The Cruise is about 3 years old & this shouldn't happen!!
Thanks

Yeah they are cheap. I have never seen a flapper by itself. My guess you will have to go to an RV or mobile home dealer and get a whole unit. The good news is that the new one won't be yellowed!

I forgot to lock mine down one time and at the next stop it was gone. I went to my dealer and told him I needed a vent flap and what had happened. He laughed and said it happens all the time and got me one. They had a bunch in stock. Cost abt $10 for the little flap. When I went to put it in I couldn't figure out how to get the ears in without breaking them. After a little study I realized that after removing the 2 screws at the bottom the cover would hinge up and the new door could be slipped in and the 2 screws replaced.

Piece of cake and set up for easy replacement. Doesn't even affect the sealer around the vent. I'm thinking of adding a spare door to my stock for the next time I forget and it "blows" away.Edited by: avvidclif

There was chap selling stainless steel ones a few years back, I got one just because, three weeks later my factory one was gone, and I installed it. If you want I will e mail him and see if if still makes them

Short term solution when ours broke at the top: Joyce put a strip of white duct/duck tape across the top to act like a hinge and fastened the two small tabs at the bottom. Did I say short term? It's still working after four years. It 's out of sight up there too.

One plastic tab on mine is broken on one side as well - stil staying in place with the tabs but could easily blow off.. Ours is black and went to Camping World and they don't carry it - has to be ordered and since we were just passing through we didn't bother. They didn't look it up but I think you need to replace the whole unit. I'm going to try the black Gorilla tape as a solution for now - it's out of sight, if it works, I'm good with it!

Looks like the tape may be a better solution than a replacement. Our Cruiser is only 3 years old & the vent cover was never left open when traveling. With the ears on the cover breaking, sounds like a poor design. I'll try the tape for now.
Thanks for the replies.

On my Previous trailer it would happen at least once a year. Dealer had replacements cheap and are real easy to install.

The flap broke on my last trailer and I was able use a piece of wire, which ran through the holes at the top of the flap and ran the length of the flap. I ended up breaking off the plastic tip on the other side too, where the wire attached at both ends. Never had another problem.

I glued a piece of stainless steel rod from an old CB antenna to the flap and had no more problems.
