Traveling with furnace on

We are going to be headed south for the winter next week but have to stop at Lippert and Crossroads on the way. This will mean towing during the day with temps in the teens and sleeping nights near 0 degrees. Any reason why the furnace can't be running while towing so we don't end up stopping for the night with everything frozen inside? Thanks, Bruce

I always tow in the winter with the furnace on about 50 degrees. It is the only time I use our furnace. WE use electric heaters when in a campsite.

We too do it....

Some tunnels and areas say turn it off - also some fueling stations too, but if you have a diesel and not a gas tow vehicle like me, I never turn off the pilot off either...

besides, the furnace will keep the under belly from freezing too...

Bruce:
When we use to winter in AZ. we never got out of here until after Christmas.
We always ran the furnace on the road, never experienced any problems. I started it when we started getting packed up to go, and it stayed on till we got there. There shouldn't be any pilot light to worry about on the furnace. I believe all furnaces have electronic ignition now. The fridge does have a pilot.

Thanks Lloyd! We wanted to leave before Christmas to hopefully beat the cold and snow but mother nature couldn't care less. I had sent you a PM on the old forum about a scored spindle and decided to have Lippert take a look at it and give me an opinion as I don't want to burn up another bearing on the way to FL. Can't believe that you endure the northern WI winters since you are an "Old Farmer"

Merry Christmas, Bruce

Yes, I remember your PM about the scored spindle. I think you are making the right decision on it. Where is Lippert in comparison to the factory?
Have a good winter.
Merry Christmas to you to.

Lippert is in Goshen, Indiana which is about 20-25 miles from Topeka. US 20 west from Shipshewanna will get you there. It might be good to call Lippert beforehand and make sure you can get in.

We had Lippert install the JT Strongarms and the TriGlide during the Rally Special a couple of years ago.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Al/Linda, wonder if Lippert would do this again at the 2014 rally!

I don't know. I think it was the 2011 Rally that they did the special. We took our camper to Lippert in August of 2011 for the install & I think we may have gotten a brochure in June when we went up to get some parts for our Seville (that we wound up not using).

I wish Lippert would do it again with some of their new stuff as I might be interested there as well.

Why don't you folks contact Lippert and try to get thier interest. I have had a couple of very good experiences with them. In spite of a lot of negative reports I find they stand behind thier products. They may welcome the opporyunity to participate. JMO good luck.

Lippert agreed to replace our outdoor kitchen door that had a broken strut. So, I can say anything negative about them.

Hey, you are one of the rally folks. Why don't you send a note to Rick? Or to Nancy Burton who is organizing some events? They are welcoming input from everyone.

On the Crossroads FB page, I have asked for Terry and Evada to return. Since she is already working for Crossroads, it should work. I learned a lot from their presentations.

Hope you are staying warm. Aren't you in Alabama? It is a chilly 30 here with freezing rain.

Bruce:
Where are you now? Hopefully you've gotten the spindle and what ever issues there were taken care of and you're in a warmer climate now.
How did you folks, and, the Cruiser take the cold temps while you were at the factory and Lippert?

Do you still have your Seville? And will you be coming to the factory rally this year?
