whats under your fabric?

I have an 05 bumper pull 30ft. Cruiser and I noticed bumblebees heading into a hole behind my front mounted propane tanks. Looks like a nest somewhere between the fabric and frame. How much hassle to undo the fabric and clean this out? or do I just plug the hole to prevent future nesters?

If you go in after them make sure it's cold outside! Are they "bumble bees" or wood bees?

By "Fabric" are you talking about the barrier under the RV? If so, It's not that hard to pull it down if you do it in sections. I had to pull mine down and I pulled the front 8 ft or so. The hard part is putting it back up by yourself and getting it tight. A second person helps. The polar insulation (if you have this option) is laying on top of the membrane but is easy to move and put back. Hopefully your nest will be close to the front by the hole you described.

I wonder if we have this bee in WI.?
I don't think I have ever seen anything like that here and the OP is from WI.
Would be interesting to know just where that particular bee calls home.

I was trying to find the range map that they put out. I have not found that yet but here is some more info. on this pest. http://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/pol...ter_bees.shtml

I know I had them in Central Pa. My area NW PA I get alot of complaints on them. We deal with Forest pest and Carpenter Bees attack dead wood.

Yep..."Carpenter Bees". We always call them "wood bees". They make a perfect 1/2" hole.

Wood bees it is. I thought they were different from bumbles when I saw them. Now why would a wood bee nest in an all metal framed trailer? What am I missing here?

need to look at the wood structure. if you see a hole about 1/2" Looks like a drill bit went in than that would be the nest.
