Leaking slide when closed.

I just went out to get some stuff out of the TT. To my surprise the floor had water on it and the carpet on the slide out was soaking wet. I found a bucket to stand on and had a small puddle on the roof of the slide out. Then looked down the side and could see water where it ran off and was still beaded up.

The caulk, simple clear silicone at the rubber seal does not look good. Does silicone actually stick to the rubber wiper seals for the top of the slide out? With the flexing while going in and out I would think not. I wonder if a slide topper/awning is a better thought to help?

I opened the side hoping it only leaks when closed. Never noticed before. The camper is pretty level in the driveway.

Slide toppers eliminate that problem as far as I'm concerned.
Dicor has a sealant that would be better to use. They have a self leveling sealant for use on the roof and another one for the sides.

That gob of silicone there in the corner doesn't look good. There isn't suppose to be any there in the first place. Those flappers have to be able to fold independently of each other. They're not suppose to be hooked together.

I wonder if I should just remove that glob and look for an entry point next time I close it. I was just checking some prices on the slide out awnings. Would prevent the need or reduce the need of cleaning the top off. Just heard mixed storeys about how they hold up in the wind.

I could call the dealer but I would rather fix it myself.

It appears to me the folding gasket did not fully turn around. Look at the very bottom. They either have to be all out (slide out) or all in (slide in).

I saw that at the bottom of the slide. I thought most of it came in on the top of the slide. I guess some could have came in towards the bottom too.

We sucked most of the water out of the carpet with our carpet cleaner. There is a fan blowing on the carpet. All three of the roof vents are open and the tiny exhaust fan in the restroom is on. We used it last weekend end and it was dry. I'm surprised it smells like mildew already.

You will remove more water if you close it up with the fans and AC running. Maybe an extra dehumidifier if you have one.

They sell a product at Lowes that you spray on material to clean the mold and prevent future mold. Natural and no VOC's.

check the center of that seal. Mine was leaking also and I found that the seal had come off the track in the center and was going under the roof seal and holding it up. I reattach the seal and haven't seen any more water. My corner look bad also witch I going to have the repair shop redo them. I also check the other two slide and found the one on the other side was just starting to coming off. They don't place any sealant across the weather stripe to keep attach to the RV. It just sit on the track.
