Wheel distance?

We pick up our 290RL Sunset a Trail in a few weeks. We are using very effective and very in expensive wheel chocks on our present camper. See photo. I do remember that the wheels are a lot further apart than what we have now. What do you use? These are very stable.

Anyone know the distance between the tires? Thinking I could do a double thread for the longer distance.

This is what I use. They are just hanging there loose in the pic. I would think you should be able to make them any length necessary.

I like that! The only issue I could have is getting down to put enough down pressure. Being an old fat woman presents a few problems.

We purchased extra-wide scissor chock for our wide stance Sunset Trail 26RB. It really seemed to help to stabilze the trailer. We found it on Amazon. We might purchase one for the other side of the trailer.

Ditto on the extended fit X-chock. Check prices everywhere you can, will find a huge range. I think I got mine from Camping World at the time b/c they were on sale and I got a further discount being a Good Sam member. Shipping was stupid though, sent in the box that sits on the shelf in the store. Completely destroyed when it arrived.

Very stable

Merry Christmas to everyone.

I just received a pair of X-tended Fit X-chocks I ordered from Amazon. Cheapest place I could find them by far and they qualified for free 2 day shipping with Prime membership.

Trailer is rock solid now, wish I had purchased these in the beginning.

Like Lloyd I use the 4x4 but with a 1/2 inch pipe clamp. You can cut down the angle to fit your tire spacing and it is a lot cheaper than the x chocks. I think they work just as well.

We use Anderson Levelers sometimes. Our daughter has a Sunset Trail fifth wheel and her wheels are further apart than ours, making it easier to use the levelers. We have to really jam one of them in between the wheels when we use them. They have their own chocks.

If we are not using the levelers, we just use regular chocks that are kind of triangle shaped and are placed in front of the back wheel and behind the front wheel. They have a string to make them easier to pull out.

This is a personal note, not disparaging of anyone's results...
just that we've never felt any improvement with wheel chocks in any of our rv's

we bought the 'nice' x-chocks and the king pin stablizer with our previous 5er and they are both sitting in the garage along with other things that didn't work as well as we hoped

now, for those of you that manually set up satelite dishes, this may be the ticket -->http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...vey-tool/56739

I do see improvement with X chocks especially if you also chock your tire at ground level.
It is the nature of a trailers suspension to move when people move around inside.

I agree to a lot of what jb2 said.
I don't use the king pin stabilizer any more. My chocks I feel help some what for movement. I like them for locking up the trailer to prevent any getting away.
For getting rid of the rocking movement, there's nothing that can compare to a good set of stabilizers.

I read somewhere that the only way to stop movement entirely in a trailer is to get it off the tires. The tires have some give, which promotes movement. Put the trailer on blocks and she no longer moves.

Lots of things can minimize movement, but as long as some of the weight is borne by the tires, you can get movement.

I'm not too nieve to think that these will rid us of all movement, but it certainly can't hurt things. I have also added an adjustable stabilizer under the fold down steps to minimize movement when entering/exiting.
I'll let y'all know what the family thinks on our next outing. If they're happy, I'm happy and in the end, isn't that what it's all about?

Merry Christmas to all... and to all a good night.

The Valterra stabilizers placed in front of the axle on each make a huge difference.
