Route to Poulsbo, WA Help

I have to make a trip to Poulsbo, WA in early February leaving from Baton Rouge area. What is a good route to take to avoid most of the snow and ice? I assume I10 to I5 north would work but a more direct route would be preferable. Other issues I may encounter?
Thanks,

If you are bringing the 5'er, then yes I10 to I5 is the safest. When you get to SoCal, you can bypass the LA area by going north on I15 out of San Bernardino to Barstow and then 58 West to Bakersfield and catch either 99 or I5 north to the Seattle area (all are good freeways). Keep in mind you will go over the Siskiyou's mtn pass in Southern Oregon. Also, it is not that unusual to have a bit of snow in the Seattle area in February. Enjoy the trip and welcome to Washington!

Thanks, Stan. Would I need chains to go over that pass? As to snow in Seattle, I don't mind the snow, I'd just prefer to not tow the RV through it in the mountains.
By the way, I love the area. Been there several times but this will be the first time in winter.

Probably not but carrying them just in case would be prudent. Normally they keep the I5 roads well plowed but you might encounter delays. Watch the weather and adjust your timing of pass arrival to arrive in-between storms. It takes about and hour(or so) in normal conditions to get over the pass from Yreka, CA to Ashland, OR.

Thanks for the help. Another question if you don't mind. What do you think about jumping off I5 at Redding and taking, I think, 299 to Crescent City, then back to I5 via Grants Pass, OR as an alternate route? It looks like maybe less than 50 miles difference.

No problem, glad to help. You can take 299 but it can be slow and has hairpin turns. I bet that 50 mile difference equates to 4-5 hours in time difference. You can also take 299 to the coast and go up 101 but that is slow as well and I have not done it in the winter. Personally, i would stay on I5 and closely monitor the weather. There are DOT cameras you can watch along I5 as well. Just one additional.....I have yet to find a descent campground in Grants Pass.....just sayin'....
