That 4 wire connector could simply be plugged in at the rear bumper IF you had a 4 wire and a 7 pin connector as many tow vehicles have, including mine.
The white is wired as a ground, yellow for left turn, green for right turn, and brown for running lights. That's it.
There's no need to have a permanent red or power wire. Your animated illustration shows a red wire. How come there's no red wire on the 4 wire plug?
Do yourself a favor first...find a truck with a 4 pin connector and plug it in before installing.
I think that will answer all of your questions.
