We're new here and it took just about all day to figure out how to sign up and add all the fancy picture links. We recently purchased a 25rs Cruiser and can't wait for spring. I do have one question: I was told not to use the dining table or even stand in the slide-out while it is retracted. Is this correct? I can foresee a time when we may want to use the table while traveling. A service tech stated that while retracted, the slide-out is not in a position to hold extra weight. _popupControl();

I was always told to NOT step on or use the slideout unless fully extended. Now, I don't know if that's a wives tale but given how flimsy the floor's are and the fact they are unsupported I have stayed off.

When the slide is in it is not supported on the end and it can break if you step on it.

We use our table in the slide out all the time when we are traveling. I have 2 lengths of board that run the full length of the slide. I ran them thru the table saw and cut a bevel on one side.
The beveled side gets put under the slide when it's in. That fills the gap and we don't have to worry about breaking it loose from the end walls. When we get to our destination, they get taken out and I set them on top of the axles. They stay dry and clean there.

By the way, welcome to the forum.

We use our dining set all the time when we stop for lunch at rest stops. We don't put the slide out, but then we can get to all the cupboards and fridge with the slides in. We are carefull not to step on the edge of the slide floor. Welcome to the forum.

Korbe & Diana, welcome to the forum and congrats on the new unit!! I agree with those that don't use the slide unless it is out. Lack of support would be cause for concern. It doesn't long to deploy the slide, so I rather be on the safe side.

P.S. Cute dog, what is it's name & breed??

That is Our feelings also, But We own a 29RK so you have to open the slide to get at the fridge so........the ONLY thing We don't like on Our 5er but you get used to it.

Thanx for all the good advice. I think we'll just stay off the slide until extended.

Welcome to the forum! Someone on this forum had a problem with the floor of the slide out coming detatched from the side walls of the slide out. There was a thread on the old forum about it if I remember correctly. Apparently because of the way the floor is attached to the side walls it is not fully supported unless it is extended and the slide out floor is resting on the framing underneath. Enjoy your new rig and againwelcome!

Welcome to the forum. We also use our slide while in, staying off of the front edge of the floor is key. Old Farmer's solution soundspractical. As a son of a WI farmer, that's what I wouldexpect hear.

Bob:
Thats the way I see it. The leading edge of the slide raises as it comes in, and it stays up off the floor. I believe by putting the boards under that front lip you have braced it in the same way as when it is extended.
Not very glamorous I agree, but it works for us.

I had hoped we didn't have to put out the slides to eat. Some States and citys call that camping as soon as you put out a slide. some walmarts wont let you put them out either.There are lots of states that say your vehicle must be "ready to drive" thats no awnings out no feet down and no slideouts out thats why we chose the 30sk the floorplan we liked best was the 29ck but there was no way to deal with food at a rest stop without putting the slides out. Ill ask the dealer tomorrow!!!!!

Wal-Mart doesn't care about your slides, it's the cities rules & reg's department that cares. As far as Wal-Mart is concerned your abother paying customer, just ask them - they will tell you they love campers.
