Outside Kitchen Door Hinge Seal?

Anyone have a way to stop water from coming thru hinge when lid is open? Not talking about during a driving rain, just the water that comes off the wall and lid when open.

I was thinking maybe like a rubber gasket that attaches with 3M adhesive?

I don't have the outside kitchen, but if I did and was having water problems, I would install one of those little metal awning type things over the door. I don't know what they are called, but I've seen them used in similar situations.
They don't stick out very far, maybe a couple inches at the most, but it would be enough to get the water over the hinge.

Tim , the hinge is not a sealed one , just regular hinge . I know what you mean , here you go with a fix.

You don't really need the gutter, maybe just the rubber piece and a trim piece that is between alum skirt and fiberglass side.

Harley, Thanks man. Somehow I knew you would chime in. My problem seems to be water not only water running down the side of TT but water running down the lid when open. I don't have it open when it's raining of course, but after or during a drizzle. How well does your mod work when open?

It never leaks. It used to leak when first opened after a heavy dew. now it perfect.
And I also made up an extention for the awning (probably already posted somewhere)

Tim , If you are talking about the cover, it is an 8x10 poly tarp with a rope bead sewn on one side and fed into the c-channel that the awning is in, some clamps to hold it to the awning and a pole with tie down rope on the corner. Cost about 4.99 for the tarp.

No. Not talking about the tarp extension. I am talking about the black rubber strip over the hinge. That is kinda like what I had in mind. Light rain, drizzle, and dew, the water runs thru that hinge with the lid up.
Thanks.

The problem is when lid is up, the angle is enough that water on lid will then run back toward hinge. So...it needs to keep water from reaching hinge in both directions.

the rubber is just a piece of some old roofing mat'l , I think from a rubber roof that is heat torched. a roof company may have something like that.

I have been looking at piano hinge gaskets. They make a rubber and a pvc type seal that installs behind the hinge but afraid that would just drain out at the edges of the hinge. I am thinking of something that will flex and attach via 3M adhesive to the side wall and to the lid. That would avoid screws and would also direct the water out past the opening?

That is a good idea ,just stick it to the top and let the bottom hang as to let it move when door opens.

Harley you post the pictures of the seal you did over your outdoor kitchen. I had a question if that was something that you made or able to purchase and if soWhere did you get it from?

Any kind of thin rubber about 3-4 " and can just use a piece of trim like the one between the side of the trailer walls and the alum skirt. With the black rubber insert.
