SAN-T FLUSH clogged on the Cruiser CF31RE 10.

Can the nozzles of the SAN-T-FLUSH system be easily accessed when dropping the belly liner?

After working flawlessly for two summers, the SAN-T-FLUSH will not deliver water to the black tank. It seems that the back flow preventer is working and that the system pressurizes. I assume some debris made it past the screen filter on the hose connection and clogged the nozzle or nozzles.

Thank you in advance.

This happened to mine and would not unclog. I partially dropped the membrane near the opposite end of the black tank from the dump valve. (that is where my tank flush is located - not sure if all tanks are the same). I removed the hose and then the flush port (unscrews from tank). There is a small white plastic screen (about the size and shape of a thimble but slightly larger) that is suppose to spray water around the tank. The screen was completely clogged with small bits of toilet paper. The clog had also gone "up" the hose about 3". I cleaned the screen and mount, hose and reassembled it and all is fine now. Hardest part was removing about 3' of membrane - just enough along the side of the rig to get my arms to the fitting.

Thanks Stan.

It is good to know that it is fixable.

The next nice day, I'll drop the liner and give it a try.

I had the same problem. Be careful when you remove the elbow between the tubing and the tank. Mine was tight to the frame and ended up cracking the flange. Had to have it "plastic welded" at a cost of $200.00. My suggestion is to replace the fitting. Swan Industries ( maker of the backflow preventer in mine) also sell a good jet fitting for a couple of dollars. They are on the internet out of Oregon. Goodluck.

THANK YOU for the tips. It was clogged at the nozzle AND the

check valve was frozen .

The vacuum breaker and check valve were under the bathroom

sink. They are supposed to be above the toilet by code. When the vacuum breaker
;es bad you will know by all of the water running out of the vanity. lol

The nozzle was at the tank drain bung. I thought that it

would be up high. You were correct in that the nozzle fitting hits the frame. I cut off about a and managed to unscrew

it. I then ran a snake through the hose and then flushed it out. The nozzle was

paper mashie at its worst! When the nozzle

was clean, I attached it to the garden hose. There sure wasn’t much high

pressure spray.

It is hooked up and working, but we cannot hear the spray

hitting the tank interior as we did before. Maybe the new brass check valve

restricts the flow. At least there is plenty of water reaching the tank through

the San-T-Flush. I have no desire to drop the belly liner again. This time a

bundled the wiring and hung it off of the liner. At one location the wires were

run through a metal cross member and you could already see the wear on the

wiring. I slit a length of vacuum cleaner hose and used it as conduit.

So is the vacuum breaker and check valve located inline between the water supply connection to the sprayer and the nozzle inside the black tank? I have something under my vanity that I've not been able to identify so I'm assuming that may be it. I'm guessing when yours went bad you were washing the tank??

pulpwod,
I went to use the San-T-Flush and heard no spray in the tank.
I am not crazy about having the vacuum breaker and in-line check valve under the vanity. I if the vacuum breaker goes bad we will be flushing the vanity as well.
I suppose they want to locate it higher than the highest possible black water level. That would be over flowing the toilet. How often would that happen?

My San-T-Flush never worked from day one. I finally got underneath, dropped a section of the belly, and saw that the flush line was mounted near the bottom of the black tank. I expected it to be mounted near the top. After removing it, I found the plastic screen clogged with fines from the black tank. Not a fun job to clear the screen. I hooked everything back up, ran water through the system to make sure it worked, and thought I was good to go the next time I needed to use it. And of course, the next time I tried to use it, it had already clogged. I gave up and just bought one of those plastic tubes from Camperworld that hold your toilet flush valve open to use the next time. Am I missing something, or am I right thinking it is just a bad design, having the flush line mounted so low?

Jerry,It would be interesting to see what the flush manufacturer recommends for a nozzle location. The tank drain may be just an easy way out for the installer.

I wonder if a check valve right before the nozzle would clear up this problem.

The blockage I cleared was in the fine mesh screen which was filled with solid waste. I think if you travel with any amount of waste water in your black tank, the screen will re-fill with fine particles of solid waste due to the sloshing as you drive. I am almost certain that is what happened to me. I don't flush my tank after every stop. I let the tank get at least 2/3 full before I dump. Saves on chemicals. Also, the sloshing helps break up the tissue and keeps the level sensors clear.
It would be interesting to know what the manufacturer recommends. If they are getting bad press here due to a good product installed wrong, that would be a shame.

Jerry,I called Swan Manufacturing. They read the installation instructions to me over the phone. The nozzle is to be installed no more than 2" from the top of the tank.

Kamper Dave,
Thanks for calling and confirming that it should be installed near the top. So the next question is what to do? Right now I think I'll stick with my current plan, but if someone comes up with a way to fix, (i.e. raise the nozzle position), I'd take the time to do it.

Jerry,
I am not going to drop the liner again this spring but maybe this fall I will install one of those nozzles with a metal spinner attached that deflects the water. The folks at San-T-Flush mentioned something about the spinners falling off if not on a metal shaft. Next trip to Camping World I will take a closer look at what is available in nozzles.
See you down the road.
