Way, way off topic. A non RV question

OK, so because I have gotten a lot of good opinions from this site.
Here is one that is not even RV related. Please pardon the stray.
It has to do with household refrigerators.
Time for new one.
Who has a bottom freezer unit?
Like it? or not.
I am trying to decide between a side by side and a bottom freezer unit.

I guess if my RV were big enough, I could claim this was a pertinent question.

Thanks all.

Amana. model ABB2224BRW
Purchased last month. Wife really likes it, and it's quiet!

Not to worry, this is what the Basecamp Lounge forum is used for.

We have a GE Profile with bottom mounted freezer. I like it but the freezer doesn't hold as much it seems. But I prefer it to a side by side. Ours has the ice maker in the bottom freezer part which does take up space. But I like the small inside water dispenser verses the big one on the outside of the door. You lose interior space with those.

We prefer the side by side with the ice and water dispenser on the outside. This way you are not opening the door for that stuff. With the new design, the ice dispenser only takes up space in the door of the freezer and not inside the shelves.

I hate my side by side. I feel like I do not have enough room for larger volumes of food (ie when I thaw my thanksgiving turkey or have food for small parties etc).

We have the Whirlpool Gold with bottom freezer. During the summer we have a problem with frost forming in the freezer section. The frig. is near the back door which is frequently opened and could be causing the problem because of high humidity. Other than that and the ice maker that I hate (which is another story) we like the unit.

I like the idea of the bottom freezer, but I have to have my ice and water in the door. My side by side doesn't have a lot of space so I have a chest in shed. Bought it cheap at Sams.

Bottom freezer and side by side upper (french door style). Water and ice in upper left door and the thing is huge. Best thing is it has a hot water dispenser for tea and soup!

Well,
we have all three styles

Our main one in the S&B kitchen has been a side by side for YEARS, decades - we really don't know anything else, except:
our utility room has the old two door beer fridge, freezer on the top and all...
but it's used a LOT so we can bulk store there to leave the kitchen fridge 'workable'...

THEN there's the bottom freezer residential in the rv... actually not used it enough to have a like or dislike about it... the only thing I will say is it is sure nice not to have to worry about things thawing out or getting hot like our dometic did!
