Back Up Camera

I have a 30' SF28BH, that I pull with a 2003 Ford F250 7.3L. Recently I have been interested in purchasing a reversing camera system. I want to go wireless and the three best wireless reversing camera systems I have found are the:

Rear View Safety Digital Wireless 7" Quad Camera System
RVS-CW-CAM
@ B&H for $299.99 Free Shipping

7" Monitor with Built In Wireless CCD Mounted RV Backup Camera
SKU90113
@ Tadi Brothers for $289.99 + $16.30 Shipping

Jensen Voyager Digital Wireless 7" Backup Camera System
WVOS713
@ RV Cams Inc.com for $540.00 + $16.02 Shipping

I am open to the pros and cons of these reversing camera systems, as I believe those of us in the RVing world are the best source for true and factual reviews of products.

Thank you,

I had one on my trailer and the signal wasn't strong enough to transmist a consistent signal. The lag time on the transmission proved to be more dangerous than not having one at all.

You putting this on your truck or trailer?

The camera would be mounted on back of my 5th wheel.

A friend of mine made one for himself by wiring a back-up camera to two 6 volt batteries. He made one for our daughter and she uses it to hook up her fifth wheel because she has a short box on the pick-up and cannot see the hitch. She did a video on how to make it.

I had this one from Amazon..

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The consensus on most of the research I did after returning it was that the wireless models didn't have the signal strength to broadcast andfrom the back of the trailer and/or there were too many obstuctions for it work properly. This included the hitch cameras. The recommendations I received was to run a hardwired unit.

The dangerous part of it all was that the screen would work than lock in the frame...so you woudnt notice the objects not moving closer and by the time you realized it ..could be too late. Would be nice if there was an error message that would pop up.

Nice setup for the hitch...probably would have the same signal issue on the back of the trailer vs. the hitch.

Our friend used to use it at the rear of his travel trailer which he would pull with his class B motorhome. He bought a 36' fifth wheel last year and sold the travel trailer. I will ask him if he uses the camera for backing it up.

We installed the rear view safety camera . However we have it hard wired. After researching cameras-the wireless just seemed to have to many problems. Love the camera since we pull a boat behind our 35 ft fifth wheel. Wouldn't pull without it!

I asked my friend and he says the back-up camera he built does transmit from the back of his 5er. His trailer is 38 feet long and he pulls it with a truck that has an 8 foot box and four full size doors. The screen is in the cab and looks like a GPS screen.

I also installed a Rear View Safety camera on the back of my 5er. I use it as a rear view mirror when I travel down the highway. I love the absence of any static, flickering or wavy lines in the 7" display.

Before I got my Silverado, I had a TrailBlazer that I pulled a TT with. I tried 2 wireless cameras on in, just to see the hitch to assist in connecting, but they flickered too much to be useful.

I went with the ASA Voyager WVOS713, the picture is incredible, the WiSight Technology is the real deal. I am very happy with my purchase, plus the installation took less than 30 minutes.

Perfect!

I'll look at that setup in the Spring. Looks easy to put together.

Good to hear!

Another case of you get what you pay for. Most of those cheapo $120-$160 wireless systems are fine for the hitch.

That camera has a bunch of infrareds on it too. Can you post a picture from the video screen with an image in the dark?

Go to http://www.rvcams.com/merchant2/merc..._Code=Wireless
They had the best price for the ASA Voyager WVOS713, cheaper than anyone else.

I promised not to quote the price so that Tim at RV Cams Inc could keep the price lower than advertised elsewhere.

You can read my review on their FB page as well.

I will post a night time picture ASAP.
