NC/SC campground recommendations?

We are looking for a nice campground in or around NC for a weeks vacation. We were hoping for a place with some water slides for the kids. We have a reservation for pirate land at myrtle beach but I'm hesitant because I'm not a crowd fan. We want a fun place for the kids but somewhat quiet for us. We looked at jelly stone in Marion NC and liked it but they are booked up. Any recommendations?

There is a very nice family owned campground outside of Lexington, NC. http://www.crosswindsfamilycampground.com/

You would be in close proximity to Carowinds in Charlotte, to the awesome train museum in Salisbury, to the RCR racing complex in Welcome, to Old Salem in Winston plus many more attractions.

Good luck.

We stayed here @ HIlton Head in May - - the whole area is STUNNING !

Then went to Oak Plantation near Charleston - but we didn't like it and next to impossible to get out of the park from the traffic...

go take a peek at campgroundreviews.com and we liked the good sam trip planner for all the parks (not just good sam) http://trips.goodsamclub.com/

I'm at crosswinds this weekend. Nice place but the kids would be bored here for a week if ou don't go do other activities. There is the lazy 5 ranch near here that is fun and a great children's please touch type museum in charlotte. Also the Michael waltrip race shop is a really nice tour. Very weak WiFi here so I'm posting from my phone. If you want water slides etc look at daddy Joes in tabor city. They are a yogi campground with a large water park. Haven't Been yet but they get good reviews. If you want beach consider camp hatteras in rodanthe. They too are very popular.
