power awning overide

I have not had a problem yet but does anyone know how to override the back in in case of lost power or motor frailer. it came with a couple of wires in a bag so I can use a 12 volt battery some how does it have the ability to crank in. it is on a 2013 reserve

that would be how to override the awning motor to bring it back to the closed position.

Can't answer that, but it did bring to mind when we were out in CO. last year. There was a MH there that was getting ready to go home and his power awning wouldn't come in. He had a mobile tech there working on it. I think, (but don't know for sure) that they unhooked the motor, rolled it in by hand, tied it up and he pulled out.

Yes MDRUCKER is completely correct. There should be a set of wires (RED/BLACK) which were given to you when you purchased your trailer. You would attach these wires to your 12V battery. On the arm (closest to door) you'll find the similar wiring connected to the awning. You would simply disconnect this and attach it to the wires which are hooked to your battery. This should work. I haven't tried it yet either but this is what I was told...

On my 2013 ST29SS if the motor fails there is a screw in the end cap that you loosen to hand roll up the awning. Once in place you tighten the screw back down. My owners manual says you have to take it in to be fixed once you do that.

The external wires work if the control box fails, but don't help if the motor is the problem. In that case, you remove the cover (maybe 5 screws), then unbolt the gear assembly (2 or 3 bolts), roll up the awning by hand (one person on each end on a ladder), then reinstall the gear assembly to keep the awning from unrolling. If the motor fails when retracted, like mine did, you can't remove the cover except by destroying it.

mdrucker,

Assuming you have the LCI awning, see page 236 in the linked manual. Page 236 has instructions on the manual override and external powering.
