Black Tank Flush

How do you know if the San-T-Flush is actually working?? Our Sunset Trail is on it's 3rd month of use so I hooked up the hose to the main outlet at our lake property but could not hear the sprayers nor could I hear any water going into the black tank. I then tried to kink the hose to see if I could hear the water moving through it but could not hear anything. It was almost as if a valve was closed not allowing the water to pass through the main inlet.

I also could not see any water leaking from anywhere nor was an increase in volume showing on the monitor panel. Another strange thing is that the panel was showing 1/3 full right after dumping which is why I wanted to try the flush for the first time. The nest morning it was showing completely empty.

Thanks for the help and patients while I learn my new unit and it's quirks!!! I've got quite the list of repairs for the dealer to look at in September when our season is done!!! You would think for what you pay, these units would be better put together!!

There is an anti siphon valve in where the hose connects. It's possible it is not working or some type of debris is stuck in it.

I was using the flush today and heard what sounded like something metal move through the sewer hose. Is there anything inside the tank that could have fallen off and washed out? It still seemed to flush well.

I checked my hose for the kink but found none. Took the check valve out of the line and it was very stiff. Worked it a few times and it was ok after that. Could have been cocked or had something in it. You will hear the water spray rinse/flush the tank when it works, it is loud and not hard to hear. The check valve was inside the lower bathroom sink cabinet in my RV. If you have weak water pressure it will probably not open.

My issue was a kink in the hose. You have to remove the bottom cover and look at the hose. Real easy fix.

My issue was backwards installation. Which created a very wet bathroom floor...

My problem was a loose pipe clamp where the hose connects to the exterior hose connection. Someone at the factory forgot to tighten the clamp. First time I use the San-T-Flush, the hose popped off inside the trailer wall and did a nice job of flooding the bathroom floor. My wife discovered the "flood" when she went inside the 5th wheel to check that the black tank was empty on the instrument panel. Our RV dealer fixed the problem, but know we always listen and check for water on the bathroom floor when ever we hook up the San-T-Flush to dump the black water tank.

pressure

Do you have to use a water pressure when hooked up to the black flush? Some one mentioned it to me and I'd hate to blow **** up haha

Water pressure reducer that goes on the end of your "city water connection" water hose. A person has said that they bought a other to go on the end of there hose that they use for there black tank flush just to be on the safe side so they don't blow anything.

If the hoses are clamped on to the fittings correctly, you don't need a reducer. I do use a reducer on the rig fresh water though.

OK got it. I do use a second water pressure adapter for the black tank wash. My choice.

I also use a pressure regulator (limiter) on my black tank flush fitting.

A maint guy came to our site this weekend to investigate the elec pedestals 50 amp service and noted he really liked the Progressive industries electrical monitor I was using and said he wished all would use one...

While working, he said he has actually stayed at a park that warned him about the 175 psi water they had and said ALWAYS use a regulator inline.... and make it such that you won't forget it - I asked him how as I have left one for the next camper myself

Connect the regulator at the water intake on your camper. NOT on the water bib. I leave mine connected all the time. (my city water connector is in my storage area. (for now))

While that DOES keep the regulator closer to you, high water pressure could stress/burst the hose. There's no real good answer except check, double-check, walk all around and check again!

Well, the Never Kink rv hose is rated for 175 psi burst rating and is guaranteed for life. I've never experienced a campground with anything over 360 psi. water pressure. Usually, it's just the opposite esp when the campground is full.

to little pressure can be just as bad as too much. The vacume breaker valve(backflow preventer) requires pressure to activate. too little and it will not seal creating a flood. to much and you could break something, also good pressure will help the spray nozzle do its job. The best thing to do is get a regulator you can adjust, that way you can see what the pressure is and adjust up or down as required. I like 50psi myself.
