Hi folks,
2008 CF32BL, first big camping trip - extended the bunk slide, and saw that the lights (12v) weren't working. Checked the fuse - blown. Looked outside under the slide and saw this.

Moved the wires to see where they "should go"

Another view:

I guess something caught during the retraction then extending of the slide. It hasn't done this before (we've had the camper about a month and this slide has been in/out at least 10x).

This wiring setup has always made me nervous, the main slide does it the same way with those "quick draw" plastic parts and zip ties, and it always rubs on the teeth of the slide mechanism.

I was going to try a fix with some wiring loom, maybe get creative with long bungees to keep the wiring away from the moving parts ... anyone have experience with this or ideas?

Thanks!

This particular piece is prone to breaking. There has been some talk on the forum about it, also a fix someone came up with. Try doing a search for it.

I searched for "slide wiring," "wires," "strap," and "loom" and found one topic:

Looks to me duct tape, zip ties and or a hinged metal bracket. Wish I could find the pics that one guy talked about.

I had a similar problem with the gas and electric services for our kitchen slide. I've attached a link to the album of my repair.

Great pics there, thanks. I worked up something with wire loom, zip ties and what was left of the plastic guides. Reconnected the wires using weatherproof connectors (apply heat to shrink). We'll see how that lasts. I ran the slide in/out a few times and noticed that the problem probably originally occurred from the wiring getting caught in between the frame and the slide bell. I changed things up so hopefully it won't catch again. I like the rest of the camper but this doesn't look like a very good design to me.
