I actually used mortar that is for the glass tile in the kitchen. I am unsure about the double sided tape. Actually, I am unsure about how my work will stand up. One 2 hr trip and everything is ok.

Have on experience with the tape for tile but have doubts about double sided tape for that application. Lots of vibration on the road. Weight difference properly applied will be marginal. I think I would pass on the tape.
JMHO. Good luck what ever you decide.

I think I read on this forum someone used liquid nails, Sounds like that would work the best against vibration and movement. JMHO I have not tried this.

From a ceramic tile installer friend of mine. He recommends silicone caulk. The good stuff. He said you better like it after your done, it will be difficult to remove.

I have used this stuff at work, and home, for years and believe me it will hold your back splash for longer than the trailer will last.

I uploaded pictures of the glass tile backsplashes I installed in the kitchen and the bathroom. I used a product I found at Lowes called Bondera, an adhesive sheet, and a clear silicone caulking to grout with. I do not think a double sided tape would work if you put any miles on at all. We have been bouncing down the road and the tile has stayed exactly where I put it! No cracking or loosening at all.

I plan on using Smart Tiles in my trailer. They are a gel tiles on an adhesive sheet. They are flexible, lightweight and look like real tile.

I used 1/8" clear Lexan plastic sheeting in the bathroom and around the kitchen stove. Cut it to fit and then heated and bent it 90 degrees over a 1X4. Held in place with mirror clips. Easy to remove to clean or repair/replace.

I used ceramic tile mastic to install some mosaic tile behind the bathroom sink top when I installed a new vanity and around the stove top about four years ago and it is still there with no problems. I did use a grout caulk for grouting it.
