Unhappy Laboring on Labor Day

No Power : Here in Yellowstone National Park we have lost power at least 5 times in the past few days. We were heating with electric but this morning we woke up to 57º inside and 37º outside and the gas furnace just kicked in. Since it’s a holiday, I suspect the electric crew will have to be called in and this may take some time.
We need to save whatever propane we have for the uncertain future here at 8,000 above sea level. Last year it dropped to 8º before we pulled out through 14” of snow in early October. After this cup of coffee, I’m heading out to see if the Yamaha Generator will start. It needs the exercise and we need to warm this place up and dry it out as well.

All is well. We got our generator running and warmed up the place. Come to find out a tree had taken down some major electrical lines and the power company crew was called in to get us up on a power generator and then repair the damages. We were at work this afternoon when the transfer from generator to high-line was made.
We did learn that the pulsing solid state relay of the Eden-Pure heater drives the Yamaha generator crazy. The generator continually changed RPM in an attempt to save fuel and keep up with demand. So we switched to a Lasko space heater with relay control.
